What have you done to your Land Cruiser this week? (59 Viewers)

So this is 2 pic's of my aux rear heater. It came out of a 17 place chevy van around 1984. Part of the plastic housing was broken, so I just hacksawed it all off the front. I built a wood box for it, ring shank/glued but the top over the heater is screwed on so I could pull the motor/core if needed. It was $15 total for the project: wood, heater hose, 3 speed switch. Later I built a table top for a folding officer's military table. 2X4 on edge with 1/2 OSB inleted. The officers table is screwed to to the OSB. Also my first Reloading Press and old Pacific with an RCBS ram to take shell holders.

I looked for the post asking about this but I couldn't find it. Today I fired up Elsie for the first time since Thanksgiving. It cranked right up on the second try - love that electric fuel pump, and the manual choke.

This is depressing as there was at one time Land Cruisers attached to all of these hoods:

Found a 40 I am interested in, but have not seen rust through the top of the tub quite like this before. How would one go about repairing these sections of tub?

I have a minor version of that corner. Collected some body parts and am doing some custom work.
There is quite a few ingenious cats around here that gave me the confidence to just go for it.

Hello, I have a question about one of the linkages on my factory carburetor on my 3/1977 FJ40. I noticed the linkage circled in red free hanging and was wondering does it belong somewhere specific? I was thinking maybe the slot in the the 2nd picture. The 3rd picture shows the linkage in its entirety. Thanks in advance!

@Mr. Green

Nice work on those panels, what do you use for a welder?
Lincoln power MiG 210. No tig torch, I’ll learn that in future. I had zero weld experience at start of this project, I also learned id rather do patch panels than paint stripping or filler work anyday. Hope to be done by end of month with repair and move to paint.

@DylanH239 i see you have the signature bruise on your thumb…I go for one of those every few months as I’m sure most of us do. Typically a slip of a tool . Hurts like hell for a few days. When it’s finally good….BAM!

Sometimes folks cut and sell a tub top rail. Put a wanted ad in the classified section and you'll probably find what you need. or search. I think there was a pair not to long ago.

I just finished up the brake lines, booster, master cylinder and warning light switches so it probably happened during that. 😂 Just need to bleed the brakes and do the test drive. I will make a post when i finish everything up.

I took this one off my ‘64. Anyone know if this is any kind of FJ40 variant? Doesn’t look like the old school one that would be original to my ‘64, so I’m assuming this is some aftermarket something or other.

That is a good idea and probably the easiest way, thanks!

Cleaned the turn signal lenses... a little bit anyway. Used the Wolfgang Plastik Lens cleaner on my old Prius last weekend and it worked wonderfully. Not so dramatic on these though.

Also put an antenna on for the radio, or maybe I just watched my much more handy son drill the holes for it. I did route the wire and plug it in though! I can actually get stations on the radio now.
