@firestopper
Excellent work! I take it you had luck rebuilding the original power steering pump. Mine leaks like a sieve.

Yup, but I have plenty of practice with this particular pump. I used a Napa kit. Used plenty of Sil-glyde
to lube the O-rings. Too messy to take photos sorry. I think RockAuto has them available for around $60 with core return.

My DD passes her yearly emissions the first try so I rewarded her with new rear LED lites.

Made some custom box/guard mounts and got them installed and wired. I ordered the lights and resistors out or Australia , they arrived in about one week. (eBay).

The two factory holes where used to mount the new box/ guard.

The light fixture fits and looks nice.

With the shop light off and door closed these babies are damn bright. To be fair, I had all the light on.

I also had to rebuild the power steering pump. The bracket that supports the pump and smog pump was Toyotas design pitfall.
For those of you who owns a factory 2F with PS you know what I talking about. What a pain in the A$$.

Were those the Narva led lights? I am getting ready to do this as well. Can you explain the resister? I didn't know I needed one. Thanks

Yes, I found a thread on the 40 forum. I went through eBay for both the lights and resistor.
Lights: Narva 9-33 Volt LED Rear Stop/Tail Direction Indicator And Reverse Lamp (94210) | eBay

Two pack resistors:

If you use this seller, make it clear you want both shipped together and only pay the shipping on the lights. He hosed me and charged me shipping for the small package of the resistors. They where included in the same box.

On the resistors, They are used on the indicator wire only (green on the Narva and green with yellow stripe on Toyota) Splice in one end of the resistor wire to said wire and and attach a lug terminal to the other end of the resistor wire and secure it to a good ground.

Sending it out to cruiseroutfitters for some
Traction!

Got the top cap mounted up on the 64. Been a slow go on this rig, but moving forward.
Used @Racer65 windshield frame weatherstrip. Fits great, although I'm still not positive I got it the right way. ;)
Also installed the acorn caps I've had laying around forever.
Weatherstrip for the rear glass will be here Wed, so that's the next step. Have to finish running wires and get this thing fired up!

Oh and you can also spot my newly installed headliner!

I first saw this 40 about 6 years ago. I told the owner I wanted it if he ever decided to get rid of it. He never got around to the restoration he intended and let me buy it about a year ago. I finally got it to my home shop recently. I washed the top and stowed it. Can’t wait to get started on the resto but it will probably be more toward the end of the year. I’m still working on my 80 series at this point. The PO has been collecting OEM parts since the early 90’s which were all included in the purchase. It was in the process of beginning a frame off when he lost interest. It’ll be fun but lots to do

Thems Kool!

Spring has finally sprung in Maryland so I’ve been putting miles on the 40. Although I hate to admit - I drove it this winter in the east coast salt too...I couldn’t help myself...

The tables have turned - my daily driver Mazda is down for a spa day at 145,000 miles (hood latch rusted shut, battery dead, flat tire, no AC, bad MAF sesnsor and fraying serpentine belt). So the FJ40 is pulling around town duties and grocery getting. In no way am I complaining!

Against a lot of good advice, I changed the color. I know there a lot of you who will shed a tear to see an olive cruiser turn red, but hey, it's my cruiser and you've got to make choices in life that make you happy.:p
Paint shop did an amazing job inside and out. Roof and bezel are cygnus white. Wheels powder coated cannon grey.

You are dead to me.

What! why?
Well that’s awkward!

My reply was intended for the olive>red repaint above, but a previously unfinished reply to your resistor thread causes me to quote you. My un-sent reply to you intended to point you toward Coolerman for a blinker module that he sells which tolerates LEDs. It’s a plug and play replacement and will alleviate the need for future resistors when you add other LEDs and also eliminates the need for extra wire splices for the resistors which reduces failure points.

Jchanunc: you sir are dead to me. I love the Olive color. Second only to my lovely Mustard Yellow. But i respect that the heart wants what it wants.
