Finally, a radio mounting scheme I can see actually installing and using. Thanks
You’re welcome.
It’s pretty tight with the plugs under the seat and I ride with mine set pretty high.
The radio itself is pretty thin but the radio mounting tray and the DDI brace more than double the height.
My fist plan to save space was to just bend up an old license plate for a bracket or just Velcro the mount to the carpet.

Isnt there considerably more room under the passenger seat?

Was poking around under the hood during my first oil / air filter change on this LX and noticed two wiring plugs with issues.

First is the one that plugs into the MAF sensor. The clip is broken off the back, and one side is broken, exposing some kind of shroud around the pins (circled in green). Lucky I didn’t pull on it too hard and break it further. The whole connector slid right off the MAF sensor with no resistance.

I’m no good with wiring. Is this east enough for someone to re-pin?

The next connector that was broken is further downstream, leading to the TB. Looks like they broke the clip and covered it with RTV. I didn’t try to unseat it.

truck runs great, no codes, but seems like I’m on borrowed time with the MAF connector.

This was single owner, all Lexus maintained before I grabbed it. Wonder how many more broken clips I’ll find when I replace spark plugs later this spring :meh:

I’ve not re-pined any connectors on my Cruiser but I’ve done a few deutsch connectors for some other installs and they aren’t too difficult. However, at my skill set I’d be careful about messing with any OEM vehicle stuff. That “car care nut” channel guy has done them and he makes it look easy but he’s a wizard.

As far as other connectors. I’d put my eyes on as many as possible just so I could sleep at night, but that’s just me… I obsess over things like this.

Swapped out spark plugs at 124k miles to get ready for a trip. Old ones look pretty normal. Used OEM as replacements and the FSM instructions. The passenger side rear was the hardest but wasn't that bad. I was able to leave the Slee accessory mount in place (ARB compressor).

Yes, both can easily be re-pinned with the replacement parts. It’s not hard but is finicky if you aren’t used to it. If you want to bring your truck by I can show you.

On each connector is a very small six digit number.. combine that with another sequence I’ll need to get out of the FSM and you have your parts.

Send a PM if I don’t remember to get that number..

Edit: it's actually a five digit number. You then put that after "90980-" and you have the part number for your connector.

Edit 2: also, your hose clamp on the intake pipe to the top of the air cleaner box isn't fully tight..

Thanks @bloc - I'll definitely take you up on that while the weather is still nice. Heading out west this week - hopefully the MAF connector stays put!

And good eye on the clamp. I was loosening it to change the air filter when I discovered the fubar'd plug

FYI those plugs may not show up by then.. some of them take a couple weeks.

Yeah, much cleaner than the zip ties I used to secure mine

How long did it take you? Also where did you obtain your FSM? There are some floating around online but cautious about downloading random files. I am not the most mechanically inclined but going to try replacing the sparkplugs on my LX soon.

I'm not super mechanical and was able to do it in 2-ish hours of taking it very slow and troubleshooting. Torque wrench is a must here.

#8 plug is the hardest (passenger side, furthest back toward the firewall). I also had trouble clearing the HVAC hardline on #7 (thread here), but most people don't have a problem with that.

Here are two threads that will help you along your way

~2 hours. I didn't really keep track and I was interrupted by the kids and was also watching some sports at the same time. It's a pretty simple job. Definitely easier if you have an assortment of extensions and swivel joints. For the spark plug socket I used the 8" version that @grinchy (thanks for the rec!) recommended: Builds - The Guzzler - 2009 LX570 - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/the-guzzler-2009-lx570.1052021/post-14919811

I used this to get my FSM: DIY your own FSM - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/diy-your-own-fsm.1272641/

I have it setup on a server at home so I can view the FSM from my garage computer which is pretty convenient when working on the car. I can also get to it on my phone when I'm not home (through VPN).

That's great to hear! Saw those threads and have been reading through them. Ordered the plugs and sockets, going to give it a shot when I have a free weekend. Thanks for the input!

Sweet, that's great to hear. I have a set of sockets / extensions on order and will give it a try. Haven't used GitHub since I tried taking a coding class in college, will take a look at the resource. Appreciate your response!

New hatch struts.. Mine weren't gone but not their youthful selves either. I am sure I remember them being prohibitively expensive in the past, approaching $75-90, but with one of the recent sales it was only $33/side for Genuine Toyota parts. Prices must have dropped for some reason. Done.

I’ve been meaning to change out my headlight housings for a while. Mine were baked in the Florida sun for 10 years. I’m not sure anything else can make you car look newer than putting on new OEM headlight housings.

Was this the entire headlight unit or can you just replace the plastic covering? Presumably the whole thing….? I have a 2013 LX with headlights that turn with the wheel and I’m assuming those are $1k+ each to replace…. : ( need to research a bit if there’s a cheaper way.

It is the whole housing. Easy enough job. Took less than an hour to do both sides. Not sure about the LX headlights though.

LX headlights are much more expensive
