First time in this forum, and new to RC..so bear with me...

I picked this up from an abandoned storage locker. It is missing the gas engine( and os course, the controller). Every thing else seems to work, and it does not appear to be missing anything else. IIt seems to be very well made, and I am guessing that this is not a cheap item.
I would like to get it up and runnung..but.. I have no idea as to what to even look for, engine wise. ideally, I would love to fit it with an electric motor, rather than gas, since I would piss off the nieghbors with a gas one.
Is this possible, to retro-fit an electric> I can machine almost any parts for mounting, so thiat is not a problem.
any help would be great...

just at first glance, you'll need a motor, a pinion gear, a motor mounting plate (vertical), a battery and a changer...

I run a 55t Novak in my 2.2 Axial, great for crawling....the rig you show looks to be more of a dune runner and may work better with a faster turn motor.

pics attached of my spare motor, my installed motor (you can see the two mount screws) and a side shot of the motor/mount plate

You have a traxxas Tmaxx, they are made for bashing and racing at speed. Traxxas also made a electric version called the Emaxx. You would need the chassis pan, transmission, and electronics from one to convert it. You would almost be better off buying a used emaxx complete and keeping what you have for spare parts. The electronics are not cheap, neither is the transmission.

traxxas stock electronics are cheap and really not that bad. as for a motor i would buy an os .21tm. and if possible find an os.18tm. i bought one for my old t-maxx and it was a great motor. and don't get a 55t motor as the stock t-maxxes ran dual 540 motors i believe where the 55t goes about 7 mph. the t-maxx will go about 35 to 40 mph with the engines i mentioned. they came stock wit a trx .25 and it was a pos, i couldn't get a decent tune with it and they didn't last. the os.18 had way more power and was easy to tune. u will also need a pipe and a slipper clutch. if you have any questions you can im me.
