I have a 96 toyota 4 runner with the 3.4/5 speed was wondering do I have a timing belt or a timing chain? if I have a belt what will happen if it breaks? I had an acura once that the belt broke and it bent valves and stuff but i hear that some vehicles with belts nothing happens when they break (not sure what the term is) you just replace it and line everything back up. So can someone please tell me what I have? I also have a 91 toyota pickup with the 3.0/5 speed thats the timing belt/chain situation on that? thanks guys.

96 (3.4L 5VZFE) and 91 (3.0L 3VZE) are both timing belts.
Both are non interference engines, no valves colliding with pistons. Just won't run anymore.
