free'd up some real estate and helped a friend reseal his front cover

Replaced the shocks, added some trim packers to the front springs to dial in the caster. But mostly to eliminate the metal-on-metal noise I was getting after removing the PO installed 1" front spacers that I removed a few weeks ago.

Backed out of a parking lot at 10 below zero to find a puddle of power steering fluid coloring the snow. Driving down the highway was not to much fun. Looks like I'll be busy finding the leak and fixing that next.

Back when I used Hyzod brand polycarbonate to build machine guarding I would drill and tap it for hinges and what not. At 1/4" thick I could drill and tap for a 10/32 screw and it wouldn't strip too easily, but would eventually if you tried. It was a little bit wobbly but would never break. I took a piece and put it in a vice and proceeded to hit it wtih a hammer and all I could get it to do was to bend into a 90. Going a little thicker I'm sure would make it much stronger. Just my .02 based on actual experience with the stuff.

I built a bumper for my wife's 80. It is a 3 piece modular design that is braced in the back. Overall idea was a light weight strong bumper in 3 sections. Center section bolts to the frame with 4 12mm bolts per side, wings bolt on with 2 12 mm and 3 10 mm bolts.

Finished up installing on board battery charger and solar controller. I still need to pick out a solar panel. Tested it last night with the fridge running before I installed. All good this morning. Batteries fully charged.

Tried to replace my broken timing belt and discovered a lot of carnage... Both the crankshaft and camshaft timing gears broke into a ton of pieces and it took a chunk of my camshaft with it. Don't really know how this happened...

Looks like something interfered in there, possibly the tensioner broke, is loose and slacked out the chain.

Installed a new cargo liner (SOR "tuff tread") without holes for 3rd row seats and seatbelt and washed all the mud off the rig.

Changed the oil, realized too late that I had no 24mm socket for the transfer case, and that both the front and rear diff had been abused by rocks and would need additional help to remove. Lol

First weekend in a long long time maybe the first ever weekend I didn't even start the LX. Had to work on the bimmer and get it ready for sale, good news is it's just about ready.

Do yourself favor and get the Allen key style drain plugs for diffs.

Can you give the details/specs on your sleeping platform?

From memory--just a pile of scrap wood mostly--the top piece (plywood from recycled counter top) is about 71" x 19" or so and the 2x4s, if I'm remembering correctly, are somewhere between 14" and 15" tall. I wanted it to be even with the tailgate--worked out pretty well. Just rests on the folded middle seat up front. Hope that helps. Let me know if you need more info.

Removed and bypassed some stuff, mostly the things that were pissing me off, the canister I did replace with the VC120 mod.

Finally got to work on my 4x4 Labs Front Bumper Kit.. Luke sells a great product and I highly recommend if you like the high and tight look. Tacked it all up. Nice thing is i have a 1" body lift to clear my 4BT/NV4500/Orion Combo so my turn signals are visible.

Finish Weld and Paint next week..
