What brand gears? I blew my front out last summer....they were aftermarket 4:56's (unknown brand to me, PO installed). Only real option was Revolution Gears for the replacement...hope they hold up better. That said, I blame myself as it was the first time in 3 years of ownership and wheeling the 80 that I would've needed a yank to get off of a slippery rock situation in a river bed (marked trail). I was jockeying forward to reverse to shimmy it loose, but BLAM....done! Fortunately I am part time 4wd, so I was able to drive her home 400 miles without a tow. Silver lining was that it was a good time to include the ARB up front to match the rear...Whoops.
Did it again.

Next time I'll just suck it up and ask for a yank or drag out some winch line...after all, that is why we go out in small groups and I'm fully stocked with the recovery gear...
You can still get 385/70-16 and is considered 37.7s but only 1 or 2 brands of choice.I recently picked up a set of Icon Rebound Pro wheels at a great price on the Facespace. They came with 35-inch tires that I plan to run for a while, though I eventually intend to move up to 37s once these wear out.
That transition is the main reason for the wheel change, though I do wish they still manufactured 37-inch tires for 16-inch wheels.

Remember you need to be extra careful in reverse with a 8" high pinyon front diff !What brand gears? Yeah, I'm sure that it was the jockeying back and fourth that did it and my impatience at the moment towards the end of a long wheeling weekend...definitely a lesson learned and a little humility next time to just get a quick yank from the rig in front of me or drag out a winch line. I'm usually the one giving the yanks when wheeling with 100's and 200's in the pack. Driving wise, I prefer the slow crawl approach as much as possible as the 80 affords that luxury over the IFS rigs in most cases, so I'm usually pretty gentle on the skinny!Remember you need to be extra careful in reverse with a 8" high pinyon front diff !![]()
