Agreed! I started driving at about 12 in my dad's CJ7 back in the gravel pits. By 14, I could back a boat trailer down a sloped 100 yard ramp like a pro...my mom would tell me that if I could get the boat to the water (15' Boston Whaler), she'd ride shotgun so I could do it. Ramp was only 10 houses from ours, so she'd get it down there and I'd do the backup duties!
And my project of the day...working on a drawer setup with 2 modules for a sleeping platform and fridge perch. I decided to go custom and do it myself with the inside tire mount (I have the LRA tank). I do have a swing out bumper, but I prefer not to have too much stuff hanging off of the back if I don't absolutely need the inside space. My goal is to have the front module behind the passenger seat (and fridge module too) easily removable in case I need to pop a seat or two in the middle row. To build this, I used the Tnutz extrusions and hardware...nice and solid! I'll bolt it to the aluminum bars that will be mounted to existing mount points, so no drilling through the floor. I'll also add some wings to cover the sides to tidy up a bit. Next choice is if I go bamboo plywood for a cool look (and strength), or stick with a finished birch plywood and rhino-liner or similar.
