Went back and forth on whether to post this but a box truck driver decided the turn he missed was more important than the safety of those around them, drove me straight into a pole. Had I been in our Passat I doubt I would be typing this. Cuts, bruises, and tons of soreness but glad to be here. View attachment 4082862
Super glad you are OK. Tank!!!

Glad you made it out alive. I drive for a living and see stupid SH*T like this daily. Your LC is replaceable you are not.

I was able to get the front bumper on:

And got the dual battery setup rocking -

My headlights have been beyond pitifully weak, so I decided to try some LED’s. I know not everyone likes the color. I don’t really care about that, I just want to see. A little research said the Sealight 9005 and 9006 are direct replacements , and if LED’s are aligned at 3:00 and 9:00 they don’t scatter the light and don’t blind oncoming traffic. They were a pretty easy switch except getting my hand to the driver side bright.

They made a big difference and a were only a bit over $50 on Amazon https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DHH5MWK2?tag=ihco-20

First pic is on dims.

You can see from the second pic the difference in the old bright and the new in color but the difference in light output to what it was before is huge. I think they are lined up correctly but may have to tweak a bit this week. At least I know my lights are on now. Sometimes I didn’t before. Will see about longevity, but for now, a great improvement.

Not sure how much of this is true but in my Tacoma days someone posted some science behind LED vs Halogen light distances that are achievable. Some Tacoma TRD models are equipped with LED bulbs but they are always used with a projector. The idea behind that was said to be the inability for LED light to get far enough for safe lighting.

Hope these bulbs work for you though. I’m running halogens and they’re pretty good.

These are so much brighter than what I had, I guess it’s just shocking. I need to get them out on a dark road, and if they don’t seem to do the job, I’ll switch to some new halogens. My wife’s Mercedes lights had been pretty weak, and I had the shop I trust put some “really bright” halogens in them Friday when they were doing some other work. I haven’t driven it yet, but in the driveway, I am super disappointed. She has to drive 1.5 hours on a pretty dark parkway before daylight tomorrow, so I will know if there was an improvement then. Of course her lights were triple what mine cost.

Installed a small subwoofer. Not totally earth-quaking but really fills in the sound. 6" door speakers are powered by a small Sony amp and now this makes the low end much more tangible. With fake Dynamat in all of the doors and rear panels, audio in the car is great now. Also replaced the DS seat gears but screwed something up and stripped one of them right away...so I ordered more seat gears from Gamiviti. Also, what the heck is this little speaker for by the driver's left side kick panel? Some kind of aftermarket alarm? My rig has the dealer installed Toyota system that honks the horn, so I have not clue what this is for. I will be removing it when I install my Window Rocket this evening, I hope.

The color isn’t the issue. They WILL still scatter in incandescent housings. Sure they appear “brighter” but that’s in the foreground and caused by the scatter.

What was the best method to clean it up in your opinion?

I was probably overly meticulous about cleaning these. I have a 30 liter ultra sonic cleaner, parts washer, 100 Quart (edit not gallon, lol) boiler (home-made hot tank), and then used a Dremel with a small wire wheel and rotary scotch brite pad. Oh, and a wire brush, full sized scotch brite pad, super clean degreaser, and elbow grease!

Wait until you are in inclement weather...snow or rain or fog. It will likely be awful with these.
