Working on these classic car... The plastics are so brittle. I broke many plastic clips.. I wonder if heating up the areas with a heat gun will prevent it from cracking.

I get much easier removal if I spray plastic clips with food grade silicone before fighting with them. It works on electrical connectors, rod fasteners, push-fasteners, etc.

Speaking of which....

I scared myself rebuilding my NLA left front door latch mechanism and actuator.

Step 1 was to loosen one screw and launch two springs from behind a metal plate. I hate springs. They never want to cooperate.

There are a few threads on the job, it's not that bad if you're slow and careful and take pics, and it made a huge difference. My door was getting pretty sketchy and now it's smooth as silk.

Modified the Badlands winch handle and spindle to accommodate a different bumper. Added a threaded rod. IT was all brand new to me.

I finally got my 80 to pass cali smog after the 3rd try today, she runs like a champ again.
Oh man, super jealous. Still trying to get past the P0401. It's the last thing to getting it off non-operational status. I think there will be an EGR cleaning in my future.
