Yeah I painted rust inhibitor on it after wire wheeling and sanding it heavily. There are drain plugs back there. It wasn’t noticeable at all until the bumper was removed.

Tie rod ends, wheel bearings, updated spindles and a birfield rebuild. Not how I expected to spend my Sunday but the truck is sorted now.

Brake booster vacuum line, it was still sealing but pretty rough. Didn't have the large crack I tried bending it

Um, I may be a little off on my assumption but, I don't think that is good...
Wasn't over the weekend but my 80 had a case of the Mondays. The culprit was the hose that runs from the radiator to the water neck coming off the cylinder head behind the distributor.
Decided to change the oil after a long stint past my normal 5K interval. Then got underneath to check everything out, grease the u joints and birfs, sway bar bushings were pretty much shot. Ordered some new ones and also gave me a chance to install some thicker beefier brackets on the rear from a formally named company. I can tell the vehicle def feels a little more tighter on the road.
I've been eyeing those, they claim low road noise, which is subjective. I have Mickey Thompson MTs, so mine are loud, no doubt these will be quieter.
What did you have on there before and how is the noise relative to those?
Previously Cooper Evolution MT and they were worn and loud. These Yokohamas are much quieter but they are also new. Don't think we've put more than 200 miles on them yet.
Those Cooper's are what I'm currently running on mine but, I've only got maybe a thousand miles on them. Just curious, do you know how many miles you got out of them?
Exhaust bushings and replaced my one rear OME L shock that was leaking badly. Not sure how or why as other side was fine. Thought possibly panhard bar was that far off but it was within 1/8” side to side. Notable difference in diameter and new styling.
Replacing only one shock on an axle is not optimal. You now have a significant dampening imbalance side-to-side.

As I am in need of a new steering box and OEM Toyota or Redhead are out of my price range I looked into the Lares 11580. It was AT first rumored to have the larger sector shaft and then confirmed it be the larger one.
When I went to place my order with RockAuto they could not process my order due to some BS with AZ state taxes. So I went on a search and found the same steering gear box at Summit Racing. The box itself was a little more expensive but they had free shipping. Today the steering box arrived, with a promised arrival date of the 29th.
I was worried how the box and packaging would be with a heavy item like a steering box would be. The box itself had no damage to it at all and the packaging was above and beyond.
What I was not aware of the steering box came with a new lock washer and nut, none of which was in the description on the manufactures website or Summit Racing's site.
I have OEM Toyota lock washer and nut and pitman arm on order from CruierTeq. I will replace the ones provided from Lares with the OEM Toyota parts. But overall I am extremely happy with the packaging and attention to detail that Lares took.

Right. More of a temporary fix to get me through this weekends trip. Long term solution would be to chalk the OME stuff all together and throw dobinsons in the rear to match the front. Noticed a much softer compression stroke which I’ve found to be more ideal on AZ wash board. Plus my truck is pretty light

As luck would have it they spotted the culprit around the pedals so the hunt was on. I hope someone was videoing the resulting chase.
Not sure of their methods but apparently it was flipped into a near by bush. Hopefully there isn't a nest of babies.
He asked me "Do you think that is why the temp guage doesn't work any more and the cruise control keeps cutting out". God only knows what discoveries the coming days will bring.

you know when you find one, most likely there are 10 more......the nesting area would be likely inside the heater core where there is heat,...
