Got the transfer case shifter boot replaced. Thanks to PNWGERMAN for the link to Amazon and the write up. In hindsight, I probably could have shortened the boot by cutting off material from the bottom trial and error style. I think I will leave it for now.

Looks nice...just get a Land Cruiser Phil shifter extension and you'll be all set! I have one and do like the feel of the extended lever and should be perfect with your new boot.

Mine installed...

I want one of these but need it for a 97 dash.

A small job, but I was finally able to diagnose and fix the Coolant Temp Gauge on the dashboard! Before, the needle would just sit below Cold marker, even after several minutes of driving. I first worried the ECT sensor was out, but considering I could still get a temp reading from using my OBDII scanner, I figured I should do some more research before buying a new one. I jumped on ‘MUD to see if anyone else had a similar issue and only found a couple of stories, but one really great picture outlining the sensors in question (shared by flintknapper, see below). I decided to start with looking to replace the SENDER (Part No. 8342016040). However, after inspecting the connection pin and wiring, I noticed it had eroded and disconnected. I decided to strip the wire and reinsert to connector pin, then reconnect. Unfortunately, no good. So I looked for a new connector pin, found one on Amazon for cheap ($13.99 with One-Day Prime shipping, see part below) and decided to go buy a heat gun and heat shrink tubing at Harbor Freight. Bought a couple different sizes for tubing and spliced the wiring from the new connector to old wiring using marine connectors (see below). I was nervous since it’s the first time doing any electrical work on the 80-series, but excited to try it out. All in all, after seating everything and wrapping, I figured to give it a shot. After a few minutes of driving, the coolant temp gauge needle was moving! Hope this helps anyone else with a similar problem. Easy to fix, just nerve wracking doing electrical for me! I know it’s not the greatest job with spicing and insulation on the wiring, but I’m just glad I got it working properly. Thanks all for the read! Let me know if I can answer any questions!

Great work @OlafLX wiring can be daunting especially knowing you could fry something or yourself if done wrong.

When I wired in my second battery I studied this schematic several times and had it taped to the hood of the LC while I did the work.

Appreciate it @OffRoadScott! Thanks for sharing the schematic, it’s really useful for me to know when I eventually put a second battery in my truck too.

No worries. We are here to help each other.

You must mean my grab handle...yes, I love it and feel very lucky to have found one. I think the later ones are more rare for some reason.

After getting the cruiser repainted two years ago I did nothing to protect it. I put spray on wax but that was it. The result after two years of sitting outside was the dirt almost sticking to the paint. Of course it sees dirt and is wheeled, but dirt that was almost seeming to be apart of the paint was driving me nuts.

So I took it to a local detail guy who cut, buffed, and ceramic coated it. Looks pretty good for having 309,000 on the clock. Amazing what a good detailer can do.

Bumper is off getting powder coated, should be going back on Tuesday.

Drove it. Now I need to drive it another half million miles to get the other 7.
I need to get off my ass and fix the p125 and p170 codes it’s throwing.

I got called at 9 pm. My gf's daughter and her boyfriend were stuck in a field in his property.
He said he was calling a tow truck but wanted us to come pick her up. I asked him on the phone if he wanted me to pull him out.

"Oh you don't want to bring your land cruiser out here"

I showed up, winched him out and then drove circles around the spot he was stuck in before I went home.

This is completely disrespectful. And hilarious. Nice work 🍻

No pics, but I’ve been chasing a rough idle issue for months… finally did some digging around the distributor… noticed both air lines were super worn/cracked and not sealing. Bought some new vacuum lines… running like a champ now. Best $5 I’ve ever spent. Changed a lot of unnecessary stuff in the process but it was stuff that needed to be done.
