Replaced and rewired my license plate light.
Than I opened some boxes from flea bay. I am working on putting together a decent recovery kit.
I don't know what to do..... I scored these nice Crosby 7/8" shackles for a good deal ($50.00 for the pair) but they don't fit the holes in my bumper. They are .013" too large to fit my rear bumper recovery points and full .14" inch too large for the front recovery points.
I can't decide if I should try to sand them down a hair and use them for the back only or just return them and buy some smaller shackles that will fit the front and rear?
What is the mud consensus, sand the pin down .014" or return and buy smaller ones?

The valves feel like braille when you run your hand over them. All new valves ordered today.
Original head on it but it’s been off before. The friggin head bolts were crazy tight, like 100ftlbs or more. Luckily if the head is bad I got a good spare.

That is what I am leaning torwards. I don't have to remove much material to make them fit the rear. Than I think I will order some smaller ones for the front because I am not sure I want to try and file an 1/8" or more out of the front recovery points. That kind of sounds like a pain.....
Doing an oil change and trying to figure out which grease to use on the drive shafts.
Can anyone tell me how many zerks there are and if i can use the same grease for the front shaft and the rear?
And also im replacing my o2 sensor but i am a newbie and seem to have ordered the wrong one.
I bought the front sensor thinking it should go im the one located right in front of the cat. But then i found out the hard way after i screwed it in, the plug doesnt fit. Smh.

There are 3 zerks on each drive shaft. One on the front u-joint, one on the rear U-joint, and one on the slip yoke of each shaft.
You will need a pointed tip for your grease gun to get to the ones on the u-joints.
The grease can be any standard NLGI2. I choose Lucas Red-N-Tacky 2 and yes, the same grease on both front and rear.
If you have a 96, the front O2 sensor is in front of the first cat, under the right front feet of the passenger on LHD units. The second O2 sensor is after the second cat, and before the muffler, inside the frame rail.
What brand O2 sensor did you buy? Denso is what you should be installing. Most other brands fail.

So what happened is that when i called to ask for the part, they asked me upstream or downstream. I had no clue which it was, i just knew front or rear. And i told them i need front one. She replies ok that looks like the downstream...i tell her honestly i dont know now.

Use the green grease on the u-joints. If you already have moly loaded in a gun, use that on the slip yokes, as that is more of a high pressure grease for sliding applications.LOL. Thank you kind sir.

When greasing the u-joints, grease until you hear the crackle and see the grease coming out just a bit. This forces out some of the old debris.
On the yokes, only grease until you see the joint move where the shaft tries to extend slightly.
Then remove the grease gun, and either press the ball on the zerk or remove the zerk to remove any residual pressure.
Left it in the pollen and leaves to adopt her younger brother!
Woke up to a rare snow in the southwest corner of the state. Obviously I had to go for a drive with the dogs...... Wet snow and sand makes for a fun combination.
Just realized that I was a little over due for an oil change. While doing that I added a Ford oil filter adapter.
Then re-routed the PCV hose from the plymouth to the brake booster pipe on the SC. I think @DARKNESS is the originally posted this set up (can't find the thread). Essential it's to not have oil blow back in the plymouth.
And lastly I received the Exped sleeping mat last night and wanted to see how it fit in the LC. . perfect fit
