I don't know what to do..... I scored these nice Crosby 7/8" shackles for a good deal ($50.00 for the pair) but they don't fit the holes in my bumper. They are .013" too large to fit my rear bumper recovery points and full .14" inch too large for the front recovery points.
I can't decide if I should try to sand them down a hair and use them for the back only or just return them and buy some smaller shackles that will fit the front and rear?
What is the mud consensus, sand the pin down .014" or return and buy smaller ones?
That is what I am leaning torwards. I don't have to remove much material to make them fit the rear. Than I think I will order some smaller ones for the front because I am not sure I want to try and file an 1/8" or more out of the front recovery points. That kind of sounds like a pain.....Drill/file/grind the bumper holes bigger is what I'd do
I tried searching but couldnt find the answer so i gave in and just had to ask here...go easy on me pleaseDoing an oil change and trying to figure out which grease to use on the drive shafts.
Can anyone tell me how many zerks there are and if i can use the same grease for the front shaft and the rear?
And also im replacing my o2 sensor but i am a newbie and seem to have ordered the wrong one.
I bought the front sensor thinking it should go im the one located right in front of the cat. But then i found out the hard way after i screwed it in, the plug doesnt fit. Smh.
Where is the actual front one then?
Listen here, dumbass!Doing an oil change and trying to figure out which grease to use on the drive shafts.

I have a 96.
LOL. Thank you kind sir.Listen here, dumbass!
There are 3 zerks on each drive shaft. One on the front u-joint, one on the rear U-joint, and one on the slip yoke of each shaft.
You will need a pointed tip for your grease gun to get to the ones on the u-joints.
The grease can be any standard NLGI2. I choose Lucas Red-N-Tacky 2 and yes, the same grease on both front and rear.
If you have a 96, the front O2 sensor is in front of the first cat, under the right front feet of the passenger on LHD units. The second O2 sensor is after the second cat, and before the muffler, inside the frame rail.
What brand O2 sensor did you buy? Denso is what you should be installing. Most other brands fail.
Use the green grease on the u-joints. If you already have moly loaded in a gun, use that on the slip yokes, as that is more of a high pressure grease for sliding applications.LOL. Thank you kind sir.
I have moly grease and I also have a couple green grease that my dad had left over from his boat i think. I wanted to try using the green since I read some other folks on here using it, what you think? I know you said you have the Lucas but have you heard anything abt the green?
I bought a front oem sensor from my local toyota, I know I paid too much but I just learned that yes, Denso is the only other good option.
So what happened is that when i called to ask for the part, they asked me upstream or downstream. I had no clue which it was, i just knew front or rear. And i told them i need front one. She replies ok that looks like the downstream...i tell her honestly i dont know now.
anyways to make this short i got it, installed it on the front, but then quickly found out how much of a dumbas i really was, THE PLUG DIDNT FIT. Because it was the rear one that i put on the front.
ok now anyways, thanks again for the zerk info and grease tip.
The more mistakes i learn from, the less of an noob ill be![]()
