Actually this was last weekend but i swapped out the old quarter panel window rubber.

This was not a job i was looking forward to. The FSM can sometimes over simplify a task then leave you in the dodo when you are half way through but in this case it was bang up simple. Not sure why i was so worried about starting it.

Pretty happy with the results and the windows open so gracefully. Soapy water helps a lot but man the ends of my fingers were sore for days...
Hey can I ask,
did you replace rear side window weather strip due to water leaking inside or just because? I only ask cause I have water intrusion on both sides so I typically have to tarp back end to avoid water coming in. Becomes annoying when weather changes last min and have to run out and cover the damn thing.

My main reason for swapping the window rubbers was so that i could actually use the windows again. The old rubber was harder than hell and the windows would barely slide. As far as i know they were not leaking. If you have a leak then it is likely the hard decorative belt molding that runs beneath the rear windows. This is held on with clips that at one point had gaskets. The gaskets are probably long since perished and they provide a good path into the truck for water ingress. Nothing some non corrosive sealer won't fix.

Would you happen to have part numbers of what was needed? Mine aren't leaking, but I open them frequently for the pup. They're starting to be a pain to open. Thanks!

The part number for the RH weather strip is 62741-60040 & 62742-60040 is the LH

Excellent. Thank you! It was late last night when I was searching all over for them with no luck. Asked on here, and found them 10 minutes later

Also, for any that may need it, here is a great how-to on replacing them:

Don't forget 62755-60010 which is the actual window runner. The other 2 p/n are just the window seals..

Now it makes sense. I was scratching my head on why the seals would be the root of my issue. I wonder if a silicon grease or similar in the tracks would be beneficial in my case instead of full replacement. Hopefully something not damaging to the seals.

Having a visual helps...

I tried silicon grease beforehand but i honestly think it made it worse. The grease just trapped more crud in the glide slides. If your seals are in good condition and you have the patience to remove them whole then trying the new slide tracks might be successful.

Ordered some new FJ steelies for her and then will be wrapping them in some 37x12.5x17 Destination MT2’s.

New OEM calipers, rotors and pads. Got rid of the NAPA crap i foolishly swapped in a few years back. Also did a bit of hub maintenance while I was in there. I had done it about 35k miles ago so a baring repack was probably due.

Will finish the week with a coolant system overhaul, oil pump cover gasket and main seal and a steering upgrade. Busy day or two..

Nice! Are those 17x7.5? I’ve always been told that 8.5 should be the narrowest wheel for a 12.5 tire. What concerns, if any, do you have with the narrower wheel?

I ask because I have 315 tires, but the wheels I have had my eye on are 7.5 wide - which is deterring me from going forward.

Regardless, going to look slick!

Yes they are 7.5”. I am not worried about it 1 since I don’t air way down and I don’t worry about popping the bead off, 2 even Firestone says 7.5” is the narrowest wheel and 3 I may go with a weld on bead lock and won’t ever have to worry about it.
I would run a 7.5” with 315’s.

Sold my 91:(

Now I am looking for a a rolling chassis in the northwest for a build I’m going to try. If anyone has one let me know.

Just got out for a first test drive after a pretty lengthy set of front end upgrades:
  • Delta 4" arms
  • Dobinson's IMS/IFP shocks
  • Tour Flex 3" tapered coils
  • eimkeith panhard bar correction kit welded in + adjustable Ironman4x4 panhard bar
Wow, just wow. That plus my recovered driver's seat (did the LSeat thing) made it feel like a whole new rig. Excited for our camping road trip for Thanksgiving...have to finish the passenger seat first though. The :princess: will kill me if only one of the seats has seat heat haha.
