What Did You Do with Your 80 This Weekend? (31 Viewers)

3 rigs and I followed our “guide” in his Suzuki Sammy (called the Ho-Hummer) through some high country trails. “Ya, a stock 4x4 should be fine” he said, and “oh ya, ah ha, that’s the last tough one”.
Well I now know just how capable a stock rig is because we smashed through some hard core obstacles for novice wheelers in stock rigs. Ok, I have a 1.5 inch-ish lift, and one 4 runner had rear lockers. The cruiser ended up winching everybody up and over the last obstacle backwards (with the snatch-block) and skirting them around one by one.

Top notch 1 day adventure for sure, can’t wait to follow the ho-hummer blindly into the mountains again, hopefully next time I’ll have lockers and 33s.

nice! It wouldn’t be an adventure if you don’t venture into the unknown! But knowing your 80 will get you there is a nice bonus!

thanks to mud, i figured out the vibration with my wheels. I run a spydertrax spacer which i didn't realize need proper centering with 3 conical lugs. Duh! All along i've been blaming the BFG KO2s.

I was glad i was able to take care of this since we just came back from exploring the Buffalo Gap Grasslands and northwest of Black Hills. Night and day, compared to my last trip out to CO (which is 2x the drive!). Feeling dumb and relieved.

And the highlight of the weekend, my boys took the wheel for the first time!

Looks like a fun trip! Question - why spacers if you are using the stock wheels?

It was mrs surfpig's birthday weekend and we usually do the same. I loves a nice hot spring on a cold day!

When I scroll too fast through this thread and combine @baldilocks weekend of tire grooving with @surfpig 's weekend saying we usually do the same on his wife's birthday... and think to myself WTF - is tire grooving is an acceptable thing to do on your wife's birthday!?!

If it is your wife is a keeper.

finally fixed my @#%ing airbag light. Ended up being the airbag control module behind the center console. For 95-97 cruisers part # 89170-60010. I gambled and bought a used one off eBay and it worked.
also relocated a small amp to the glove box. We will see how that works out.
And finally fixed my seat leather! Wright up on that coming soon.

After my 100 crashed last weekend I figured I’d double up on protection.

10 day trip from northern Montana to western Utah, then Moab for a few days. Ran Hells revenge, all of Fins n things, Poison Spider Mesa, Golden Spike and parts of a few other trails. Snapped a birf on a heavy throttle, turbo-diesel assault up a few ledges and did 1/2 of golden spike with 3wd (had a spare birf but didn’t even need to install it). Knuckle balls still have not snapped off and killed everything in a 10 mile radius.

Got the passenger seat installed. I’ll post a thread with the process and stuff involved hopefully tomorrow so it can be added to the Seat Swap Thread.

Whatcha replacing the 80 with?
I’m almost finished a solid axle swap on a supercharged 4door Tacoma. I like to wheel harder than the 81 does and I don’t wanna ruin a nice truck.
