Replaced the stereo that I had installed 10 years ago with a Alpine simple new Bluetooth stereo. The stereo guy cut and tapped all sorts of circuits and the stereo always was lame turning on with the key in ON, not in AUX. I fixed all his errors I think and now behind the dash it’s way cleaner and stereo is bumpin’! Also replaced all 4 speakers since 3 of 4 were producing no sound.
Wanted to upgrade to disc brakes on my 91 FJ80. So I bought a 1997 LX450 rear axle on e-bay. $500 shipped to AZ as a bonus it has a factory e locker and of course its full float. The axle was located in Massachusetts so I knew I was taking a chance as far as rust was concerned. I guess I'm spoiled living in Arizona because it arrived this past weekend and whoa! The rust is so bad the axle housing is flaking chunks. I planned on buying new rotors, calipers, pads and clips. So the rust on those is a non issue. I also plan to delete the ABS components as they are not needed on my 91. I just don't trust the housing and brackets. Anyone have or know where I can purchase a stripped axle housing? Also, can I use my current 91 housing? I would rather keep it whole but it could be option if I cant find a donor housing. Any ideas or thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks! Installed a Blue Sea mini-OLD ammeter on my auxiliary battery mainly out of curiousity and to monitor my draw when I’m parked. I also am changing my dual battery setup from Blue Sea ML-ACR parallel charging to a Redarc BCDC battery to battery charger so I wanted to monitor how the two systems work and what is better/different.
Also a few last minute mods before our Spring Break trip. Icom 5100-a on a quick magnet mount where the mirror was. And ditched my Amazon fishbowl round spot lights for some Baja Designs LP6s.
I reinstalled my crossmember bolts to replace the mishmosh the shop had used removing my spacers, reinstalled by 4x GM horns behind the front bumper, installed my super duper backup lights and light bracket which makes my bright LED bulbs in the corner housings useless. Really happy with how the tailgate turned out. I used a new door rubber conduit and it's just a bit short for the tailgate but I have 2x layers of wire protection underneath. The original license plate light shroud holes gave me lots of options.
I can finally see through my window tint at night. Heres the drivers mirror with the lights off, then on followed by the passenger side. This is all from the drivers seat perspective.
Well.. if your going to Overland Expo West (in your backyard..) you can come check it out in person as my wife and I are attending!!
Thursday night through Sunday morning.
Got calipers and soft lines on, decided the motive power bleeder I bought was useless so then drilled out broken rear lower shock mount bolts, helicoiled and ready for new shocks. Have to find a helper to get the brakes bled.
I’m re-resending new 1/2” SS rear heater lines before stabbing the engine back into my wife’s truck. My goal this weekend is to at least get the engine and tranny bolted back together and mounted in the truck.
I don't know, but since I do a lot of SS plumbing at work I'm replacing and rerouting. Both lines will run down the right side of the engine, outside the framerail.

And this morning I flushed and filled the radiator on my daughters desert dune cruiser. Installed new belts. Changed oil. 94 degrees out, had to stop. Belts were only 6 months old, OEM, looked new but I replaced anyways. Keep the old as spares I guess.
