The factory also didn't make them with steel bumpers, lift kits, 35" tires, larger output alternators, air compressors, fridges, tablet mounts, usb ports, backup cameras, dual batteries, etc, but here we are. :meh:

As an electrician, I personally don't see anything wrong with putting 3 wire leads together, as long as the fuse links themselves are left separate to do their individual duties. My guess is they are separated because that's how the links were initially ordered in bulk.

Any damage or loss of life occurred from taking my advice with more than one grain of salt is not my responsibility however.

My 80 is significantly modified but I approach electrical with caution. I am NOT an electrical specialist but it seems to me that everything that goes into a fuse link affects how it functions. If the wire is cut and terminated in a different manner there is a possibility that the electrical properties of the link will change. A field repair is one thing but altering it for cosmetic reasons seems odd to me.
Phil's trick does not alter the link construction. It simply relocates it to a less vulnerable location.

I added an LX to the driveway. 97 with lockers, some exterior and interior goodies too. This is my first 80 series. Ive had an 85 Toyota pickup, few 4 runners over the years and my wife has an 07 GX.

I want to thank this site for helping me figure out what to look for and to better appreciate the "nuances" that make the 80 series special. Also, I want to thank @LouisianaRubicon . He helped answer all my random questions, personally inspected an 80 I was considering and went way above and beyond. Thanks again. As noted this post is useless without pictures. Got her last night, here are the am pics. @martinakl I hope you're not missing the LX too much.

Splicing the ends of the wires together and then running one larger wire to the battery would be doing the exact same thing. I agree, dont change the link itself, but the ring terminal at the end of the wire lead isn't going to change anything.

Thing I dont understand is why Toyota bothered with the hard to find links in the first place when nearly every other vehicle gets along fine with fuses or breakers. Kind of a kludgy system. Must have just been cheap and readily available at the time.

Very nice work on this Ritchie.
thanks I tried to get it all, but knocked over that really nice camera and well..........

Went solar this year so I don't have to plug in to my inverter anymore
I love those things! I went a little crazy a couple years ago and bought like ten sets. I always bring a couple camping too.

Wait. You’ve already got the light of the sun up on the roof...

Is that propane tank going to be directly in your line of rear-view mirror and make your truck wider for navigating trails?
Just thoughts, you do what you want.

That would totally protect my rear 1/4 from body damage from those pesky rocks and trees!

I just added this ram mount ball to the lower hole on the A pillar grab handle. Still waiting on the phone mount parts to come in to see if there's enough clearance.

A longer M6 screw and some washers to space the ball out, looks like it should work:
