Finally got to do some wheeling again with my 80 at the Tall corn cruiser classic here in Iowa. Had a great time with some awesome people. I was hoping to have my Fj60 ready since it's a beat up trail rig, but I didn't have time so my 80 took another beating. Just casually strolling through a wooded trail and apparently a random tree decided to be an a-hole:mad:.
Language warning* Good thing it was being filmed from behind because I definitely had some choice words. Skip to about 30seconds in if you have ADD

Not sure where you are in Iowa, but I have a good piece of hatch glass just outside of Joliet, IL if you need it.

Central Iowa, it'd be a bit of a drive. I definitely appreciate the offer though! I think I've got one sourced through our club :) .

Spent the day trying fix a front oil seal leak. Stuck at getting the crank shaft nut off. Tried the starter bump, tried the flywheel trick but the long socket fell off and didn't feel good about putting that much pressure on it, made a make shift holder for the pully and bent it - guess I didn't make it strong enough. Try again tomorrow. :)

Not @joez but I was thinking about doing something similar to this DIY.

Maybe with a few alterations. Did he put the rivets on the hinge in such a way that the little round knobby sides of the rivets were sticking UP? Wouldn't be able to slide anything on that tailgate without everything catching on it all the time.

I can’t believe I forgot about this. :bang:

I’ve been working and covering a second store I don’t even hardly know what day it is. Damnit.

Haven't you blown out enough rear windows? Probably best you stayed home.

Went wheeling with a buddy youtuber called IAMJAKE and the Bearded jeeper class6 in NH and we did a food drive for the town the kings, dobinson and superior engineering with land tank, whiteline all working together perfectly or as close as Im getting.

I'll look for you in the next episode :coffee:

Finally pulled the head off the motor that threw a rod @84k. #3 snapped. Head was in outstanding condition. Would have probably thrown it on my new motor without even rebuilding it it was so clean. Every cam bearing cap still had pressure under it.

Then I learned the problem with a very clean nice cruiser and dogs. Left my younger pup in the car for <1 hour early in the morning while i ran into a meeting. He decided that seatbelts were overrated and chewed through all 4 middle and third row belts, then greeted me with this smile.

No pictures of the great trip I had this weekend, just the aftermath.

I forgot to add that I did cut a good chunk out of a sidewall. Stopped by Discount Tire and I have my SECOND tire being replaced under warranty.

:hmm: I wonder if they’ll offer me the hazard protection next time I purchase...

I have had to replace seatbelts in 3 cars due to my wonderful Weimaraner.

Curious what you come up with. This is fairly high on my list but I can't justify dropping the kind of dough it takes to buy one of the options on the market. I was thinking of simply hinging the forward edge of a sheet just like you have, adding some type of sealing gasket, adding a flush latch and call it a day.
check how i did it it was under 90 $ all done it is super easy all you need is drill and jigsaw

this is my 80 series expedition build

I bought a harbor freight 3/4 breaker bar tied it under frame with 550 cord bumped it and off it came put it back on with a equally large torque wrench, ask @OTRAMM he knows a trick.

While the custom fabricated bumper is off to the powdercoaters I started working on wiring harnesses for the front lights, Baja Designs LP9 and Squadron Sports. Being wired into Switch Pros relay unit.

Wiring loom for the LP9...
