What Did You Do with Your 80 This Weekend? (107 Viewers)

Been running my custom burrito basket for several years with not much use because I really didnt think it was all that and I think its bad luck opening your hood on the trail:rainbow:. With the recent talk I decided to revisit it. After 1 hour of highway and a couple hours on the trail with outside temps near 80° it was defiantly not hot just warm.:meh: Mine is bolted to the head and sets with direct contacts of the exhaust shield.
The only under the hood food I have seen that works good it setting a pizza on top of the engine and closing the hood. Although it works well I always worry about the box catching fire:eek: Going forward I will just use old school primitive cooking for food on the trail to guaranty hot food and no risk of under the hood fire.

The basket looks good and makes for good trail conversation but lacks performance.

I think the heat shield prevents heating your food basket.

I don't have one. :(

Put your hand on top of the heat shield and you may change your mind. Warming drawers are around 150° and most can handle it to the touch.

Well this was last weekend after doing hells revenge for 2 days I went with a driver from navtec and we ran kanes creek even tho I was warned by several locals that "we will bend our land cruisers" its starts out nice some fun crawls river runs etc and after about ten miles you come to whats called "hamburger hill" I did not dig this it was as wide as a truck and the crawling was almost buggy stauts but we made it and I almost turned back.

:D First time to Moab? Its fun to watch people from the east work through Moab trails for the first time. Terrain is very different from what most are used to. The Navtec guy must have some of his own names for obstacles. I've never heard of a spot on Kane Creek called Hamburger Hill, but I assume it was the climb up out of the bottom of the canyon up the ledges with the canyon off to the left with the little bridge. Not really "buggy status" ;) but it's a fun section of the trail. There's a possibility I'll be leading Kane Creek one day during Cruise Moab. I'm assigned to lead Golden Spike on Saturday during the event, but if they can't find another leader for Kane on Friday, I may be doing that too.
Does your April Moab trip overlap with Cruise Moab?

The problem is that you aren’t running hot enough. Maybe @NLXTACY can help you with that!

I can make it overlap if I need to Im all about using this beast and thats where it likes to be. Im trying to bring my skill level up to the trucks abilites. Im signed up for the SAS in august as well.

More lighting. Moved my license plate to the bottom of the jerry can mount. Added led strip. Only had indoor strip laying around so covered the gaps with some black RTV.

where did you score the dual swingout latches? I lost my entire spare in hells revenge welded it back on but the latch is kinda junk.

And for those that are not familiar with the workmanship @OTRAMM does, his shpop is serious, his skill and level of anal retentavness(made up word) is what you would want. 14guage stainless steel modified OEM exhaust hangers and the speed and good humor he had while doing his work actually will be in a video soon enough, after all its what I do. its sounds incredible its stainless and it held up to every rock I crawled over incorrectly and still didnt dent, fall off or leak headers back to detachable tail pipe(you can take your tailpipe OFF whilst tapdancing through the mountainsides, and reattach after) well worth it .

Couple weekends ago had to get out and camp a bit. We headed down Hwy 1, clear views, cold and not many people around. Was great!

Ryan is an awesome dude. All the work he has helped me with in the past has been top notch - highly recommended! And that exhaust is absolutely drool worthy!

On the tech side I finished my cargo build out. Stoked! 2 huge drawers go all the way back, fridge slide and quick table pocket on the left side.

Then added some easier access to the PS rear 1/4 with this Kayak hatch. I keep all my truck fluids in there so this just helps when the 80 needs the occasional topoff.

And finally, went all in and replaced my blown 2.0 Fox shocks with some ICON 2.5 CDCV front shocks. Transformed!! It’s amazing how well they control this 7000# beast.
