Spent last 2 days between prep and painting the 2nd half of the axle and suspension parts w POR-15 and top coat. Tomorrow I'm going to try and clean the under side above where the axles go as well and the link mounts and lay some por-15 on them as well. I ordered a bunch of parts last week for it between new rear seat heater pipes new rear vent louvers and rear parking brake parts. Soon, soon I'l be to the point I can start putting stuff back on rather than taking it apart.Once everything in back together on the underside Everything wearable but the diff bearings and gears will be new hub to hub front and back. Then I can get the 1fz-fe back together again and stuffed back in. Though I may do the sliders first. I have a set from my old Frontier that are just the right length, though I need to make new mounts.

Do you have a link for those wheels? They look nice
Thanks mate, they are Eplison Elite Max. I imported them myself from Japan. They measure 16 x 10 -38

Aloha Jen, you are amazing!

Today I Removed the OEM Option Dust Deflector, and finally installed the JDM Wing.

I also removed the LED tail lights, as that is what was stopping the factory Cruise Control working! Gone back to OEM, which aint that bad!

Been working on disassembling one each 1994 80 series which met its early demise one year ago when it's drive/owner (that be me) put too much confidence in the 80's snow/ice capabilities. She and I rolled three times down a steep incline. I walked away with only broken pride. The green machine is now my parts donor.

On our way to California...

All that just to get to the Antenna motor???

I am learning a lot about the 80 series during this disassembly. The ease if antena access with outer fender removers is one such lessson.

Took the cruiser up to Lake Arrowhead. Icy and COOOLD out! Had to engage the Harrop/Eaton front E-Locker to get up some of the paved inclines. While everyone else was slipping and sliding, the cruiser just mashed through it! :steer:

2M radio that will hopefully be installed in the next month or so...

I have that same radio waiting to go into my 80 as well. What are your plans for a mounting location?

Not entirely sure, probably behind the console...and that post was supposed to be in the Christmas thread...

Found a used Smittybuilt roof rack for $100, only to find out the mounting brackets weren't the right size or type to mount to the rain gutters.
I then found a used set of OEM roof rails for $100. I cleaning, painted and installed the roof rails (after fixing one rivet-nut on the front driver side). The mounting brackets that came with the Smittybuilt roof rack fit the OEM rails, but the rails aren't long enough to accommodate the rack.
Since the rack is three sections, I removed the center section, fabricated some studs to mate with the alignment holes on the end sections, bolted it together for a short rack, and installed it.

Also replaced the flasher module to eliminate the rapid flash error from installing LED lamps in the turn signals.

Long story short, "Elsie" got railed, got a new rack (albeit not as big as I'd originally had in mind, but adequate) and yet still is less likely to flash rapidly. :)

Spent Boxing Day recoing the bigger brake calipers in preparation for the reassembly, quick lick with the blaster to knock the crud off, coat of paint and new seals and staino pistons. These with some nice slotted rotors, heavy pads and braided lines should lock up the 35's no worries :)
Also did a sub and egt/boost/temp gauges for the mate that's been giving me a hand with the front axle, shed looks pretty good right now

We just got over a foot of snow in the Salt Lake Valley. Me and mine are heading to Moab for the week. If you happen on through stop in!

What are you doing there? We were wanting to hit Moab. If we have time.

Punch list for a running cruiser is getting shorter. I'm essentially at just a few more things

1. fix the wiring to the EGR VSV to repair my redneck attempt to bypass the OEM EGR VSV with an aftermarket.
2. New spark plugs
3. New wires
4. New distributor housing, rotor, cap and o-ring
5. Put the EGR valve and modulator on
6. Put the radiator back in and flushing with a new thermostat.
7. Replace both low pressure PS hoses and hope that is the source of the PS leak
8. Try to remember where one unlabeled nut goes.

I am still contemplating switching to green. Time will dictate. The cruiser hasn't been driven for a year because it needed a lot of TLC and the AC is out. So far I've ...
New valve cover gasket and resealed the leaking half moons.
New PCV and related hoses
New EGR VSV, the old one has been confirmed bad.
New crankshaft seal
New oil pump cover gasket
Cleaned the air manifold and throttle body. Choked with carbon and oil.
Removed the injectors and had them cleaned. New o-rings,insulators, grommets and spacers.
Replaced every vacuum hose and cooling hose I could reach. I have a few evap fuel lines to go.

This has been much more fun since the Cruiser is no longer my DD. Relaxing the plunk away at it when not rushing.
