Got off the ship on Amber Cove in Dominican Republic. Saw 2 cruisers then drove in an 80. Way cool.

I have been collecting parts for baselining and I think I have most of my stuff together, going to flush cooling system and replace PHH and Heater control valve, knuckle job with birfs, terrain tamer rotors and new pads all around, new master cylinder, window seals, going to look for a seat solution as my drivers seat does not travel and the padding is shot, and it's got a cheap leather bottom recover job on it, not sure if a seat swap is in order or just fix what's there and add heat.... Thanks to @NLXTACY , @reevesi, and georg @ valley hybrids, cruiser outfitters toyota of south atlanta, and the local napa for the quality parts ...... should make for a busy couple days....

Ok, can I cheat and state that this was done over a few weekends?

Washed, clay bar, wet sanded (1500 & 2k), compounded, and waxed

Cleaned interior, conditioned leather, removed old wood trim, fixed sun visors with magnets

New radiator, oil change, OME stock height springs

New paint on both bumpers and hood - done by a Benz certified shop

Cleaned the motor with toothbrush and SimpleGreen (does wonders!)

Replaced the broken antenna

Pressure washed the rust free underbody

Added a few surf stickers to the windows

Made sure my locks work :-)

OC on the LC.

Spent Boxing Day recoing the bigger brake calipers in preparation for the reassembly, quick lick with the blaster to knock the crud off, coat of paint and new seals and staino pistons. These with some nice slotted rotors, heavy pads and braided lines should lock up the 35's no worries :)
Also did a sub and egt/boost/temp gauges for the mate that's been giving me a hand with the front axle, shed looks pretty good right now

I need to come visit and bring you some GOOD Kentucky Bourbon!

Blew the head gasket two days before Thanksgiving; spent the next three weekends in the garage. Took it on an 1100 mile test drive, Everything seems to be fine. Except for the seats; my ass was numb the whole second half of the trip. And I have to turn around and drive back the day after tomorrow. Ouch! Merry Christmas MUD! Without you guys, I would have been driving a nice, new, fuel efficient rental with comfortable seats!

The bourbon isn't mine, I'm a rum drinker ;) Got a bottle of Kraken for Xmas . But the owner of the other one will more than happily drink your good bourbon!

That $.49 gas was back in the early seventies. My first "job" was pumping gas at my uncle's Gulf station during the summer of 1960. Regular leaded (all gas was leaded back then except Amoco Premium) was $.19 a gallon, Extra was $.23 a gallon, and Premium No-Nox was $.27 a gallon. The big oil companies used to have price wars (usually during the summer) and the average price would fall $.05 a gallon. A fill up for around $5.00 or less.

I remember $0.19 during a gas war in ~1970 where normal price was 5 or 6 cents higher. In 72 gas prices hit $0.33 and everyone thought the oil companies were crooks. The local Arco station offered a 2 cent discount to loyal customers. At that time an attendent pumped the gas, cleaned your winshield, checked your oil and put air in your tires. Some stations even handed out S&H Green Stamps that you collected and could use to get free merchandise at their stores.

My dad always faithfully tracked his fuel mileage. The kids in the family were never trusted to do that so we never had to buy gas. I would fool around and drive like a bat out of hell and then go put 25 cents worth of gas in the tank at the end of the night. It made my dad's MPG calculations look I was a more conservative driver than he was. I never told him the truth on that one. :D

Stopped at the Land Cruiser Heritage Museum. Don't think it's open. Maybe closed for the holidays. Dang.
