Replaced my center vents with the open/closed ones sourced from a 60. Theyre really easy to get in and out, btw.

Picked up a big ole bird cage so my daughter could resuce a Moluccan Cockatoo....like we need any more pets in the house. Then added some sound proofing stuff to the back end. Got the rear quarter panels, axle area, and wheel wells. Next up is the front seat area and tranny hump...noisy...but I rocked 15 mpg on the last tank, so I'm happy about that!

Finished my rite of passage. Terrain Tamer knuckles @orangefj45, new discs, wheel studs, calipers and even made my own hardline from caliper to new stainless steel lines from @cruiseroutfit, Advics pads too from them too. Downsized from 35” to 30” on stock steel rims. Love them!

Called on a local club member I met at the trail meet a month or so ago to help me bleed the brakes. He was a great help, there’s def no way I could have done that alone w/ the mityvac. He was way thorough which was a blessing cuz now I really understand the process, mostly. :)

Then drove it to the river and put it in 4lo. No squeals, no leaks, smooth at 65. Spotted the first two Lady Slippers (a local NE orchid) of the season.

And yes I’ll get the grill back on but I want to chop down the upper arch of the tube bumper first and add caps.

Rad!
(Haven’t used that word in a decade...I think it’s on its way back!?...)
I’ve been waiting for the picture of the new tires and rims!
Very strong work!

Finished painting the rear driveshaft for my '86 FJ60 project. Also cleaned the rear lift gate top and bottom weatherstripping, will hit with silicone spray tomorrow. Now that the temperatures finally got into the '70s I finished prepping and started to repaint the replacement lift gate from the '89 FJ62 donor vehicle. It has the provisions for the power lock mechanism and is in better condition that the one it's replacing. I ran out of paint but knew I was going to, so I have three more aerosol cans of 8B2 coming from automotivetouchup.com on Wednesday, when it's supposed to get up to 82*. And the glass was easy to remove, thanks to some tips and encouragement from @POTATO LAUNCHER.

I like that mod...wondering what you had to do to remove the old ones and get the new ones in?

Yes, should have mentioned that previously. Rotate them sideways-hemisphere ways?- and pull out with thumb and index finger. It takes a bit of force, but nothing extreme.

Also turn sideways to pop them in.

Really looks good, nice job

Decided to refresh the rear brakes since the passenger side rear was locking up prematurely. I definitely fought with getting the springs in place for far longer than I probably should have...

Then I opened up the problematic driver's side and had a good laugh as I realized that I drove this down Black Bear Pass last summer completely covered in oil and gunk! I suspect that the axle seal is to blame but I don't have time get to that right now, so for now I'll get it put back together and clean out the diff breather to hopefully help reduce the problem.

Unfortunately, as I was removing the passenger side wheel cylinder, both of the bolts holding it on sheared clean off. I couldn't find any suitable replacements in my toolbox and the hardware stores were already closed, so I'll have to pick this up tomorrow to finish off the drivers side and bleed the system.

Oh, I also got a new dome light lens to replace the original that had a big hole burned in the middle of it.

Where to begin. Well, I have not been posting much on the forum - just been soaking up all the information from the numerous threads. Now its time to start sharing my project.

This weekend I finally was able to get the exhaust manifold off my 62. This is in pursuit of replacing my exhaust manifold gasket. Lots of fun getting all the different vacuum hoses labeled, taking off the plenum, fuel rail, fuel injectors, EGR, intake manifold and nasty rusty upper exhaust.

Still a work in progress, but feeling great.

If you've got time to refresh your exhaust manifolds you might want to try this:

So thrilled w/ how the truck rides and glides up to 65 easily on the highway like it’s nothing.

2 weeks ago I was down in Georgia at "The Mitty" at Road Atlanta which is a big vintage sports car racing event. I walked around the corner in the paddock to see @The FJ Company flags and one of their beautiful FJ40s! Of course I went over to check it out and met Keith Ennis of FJC who was a great guy to talk Cruisers with (he is a self proclaimed 60 guy, as well!), it was certainly neat to see hobbies blending together at the race track! Glad you guys brought it out!
