What did you do to your pig today? (2 Viewers)

New to the forum, so might be the wrong place to post, but I just brought home a 1974 FJ55, and spent the whole day cleaning. Inside, outside and especially underneath. Spent about 2 hours with a putty knife and screw driver to scape off what looked like 50 years of baked on oil, grease and road grime. Followed that up with 3 cans of degreaser and the first car wash in decades? But now I can see where the leaks are and start to put together a game plan. Have been lurking on this site for a while but didn’t want to post anything until I brought her home. 1st LC for me but I’ve been jonesing for a pig since I first saw one 18 years ago. Any insight or recommendations on where to start appreciated. For now, I’m looking to stop the bleeding (seems to be oil/gas from the head and maybe rear brake line) and start putting the action plan together.

I noticed that my firewall grommet where my heater lines pass through, was deteriorating and popped out of place.
I've got places to be,so I slipped a bit of heater hose over them both to prevent metal to metal contact. Secured with Zip ties
I'd like to be able to tell you that I'm sourcing a new dealership part, but in reality, this patch probably won't get touched any time in the next decade.
Anywhoo, I've got a Music Festival to attend, so I'm blasting 3 hours up the road to quincy this morning to go to High Sierra music festival for the first time!

built a extension down off the dash to hold the backup camera screen, added a pull out cup holder, installed the stereo and new rockers for exterior lights. have to still add one more switch to do the led under awning but little by little. think it also might be the first time ive ever had stereo in a landcruiser.

Pacific Mountain Cruiser Swap meet Today , Only one fj55

Put my Swap meet KCs on The covers cost more than the lights , Nice mall lights , We are not Camping ,Wheeling much ? But still love our Cruiser Added Two more
What KC means ,
, KC was created out of necessity to navigate the darkest of roads, safely. Our founder Peter Kim Brown and his wife Carol, created the market for off-road lights in 1970 by retrofitting aircraft lights into sturdy housings, thus influencing off-road culture forever. KC’s name was formed from the “K” in Pete’s middle name and the “C” from Carol’s name.

Started in on making new seat upholstery and putting in the wifes new seatbelts that showed up last week. The bottom cushion was no problem the back rest cushion was a bit of a pain but got it in the end. Now to install the newly acquired early 60 series front split bench then upholster and seatbelts to match.

Yall made those? Those look great.
thank you, yeah i took apart the old for a template then changed up the seams a bit to do the fabrics different. used otter tex waterproof canvas. added new foam. the back came out better but was the second one done. The bottom is acceptable my girls will destroy it anyways. now to do the front when time allows and we will be looking good.

Today I F-ed off my windshield.
I was on my way to helltowm to put a EGR valve on a Duramax and I thought I could drive right through the small branches dangling in the road.
Nope.
There's big branches in there and it's a good thing I've got a spare windshield...
I may have this fixed for under $100.
It's all good, it's cool, this is what happens when you use a truck as an actual truck.
Things break and you fix them and then other things break...

Well that sucks. Maybe I’m missing something but isn’t one of those lanes completely clear?
100%
It's a combination of the road road/climate conditions and me being a dumbass. The air is incredibly smoky right now and it simply didn't look like it was going to hit, until THUD!
I've got a spare windshield on my parts truck. There's rubber available for under $100. Looks like I may have dodged a bullet even though I failed to dodge the branch.

Took it for the first long drive since the valve job. About 60 miles through Placerville to Georgetown, Wentworth Springs Rd to Ice House, down a couple miles to Robb's Resort for the annual Cantina for the 'Con (fundraiser for Friends of the Rubicon). Lots of windy forested roads, long downhills, longer uphills (elev. change about 3k'). Pig ran great, until it didn't. On one particular long uphill, at WOT, top gear, it stumbled. "Uh oh". I pulled over in a shady spot, popped the hood. Porthole window showed empty, gas cap had no vacuum. "dirty fuel filter". So I knocked the (plastic) fuel filter against the frame rail a few times and got back in.
Naturally, I had a spare with me, figured I'd rather change it in camp. Tomorrow.
So I did. Finished my volunteer gig and swapped in a new plastic fuel filter, old one didn't look that bad though. That must have been the problem, return trip was uneventful and faster.
