What did you do to your pig today?

You should be able to find switched power at the fuse block, eh? Heater fuse...
I have a new Kwik Wire wire harness in the pig and the fuse panel is inside the cabin under the dash to the left of the steering wheel. The odd thing is the labeled grey wire that goes to the relay and the fan…new…was working. I traced it from the electric fan back to the fuse panel with a multi meter and that wire was the problem. Tried to find out where and why that wire may have gotten pinched clipped whatever but after spending too much time I went with the coil route. Someday maybe I will dig in again and do it “right” but the next thing for me to do is the tailgate window. Want it working for the pig party.

Decided to slap the doors on the 79 in prep for paint shop. Retapped several holes to clear paint from when PO painted. Dug through all my crap to find a bolt kit which isn't stainless like I wanted. Ordered some door seals and stainless kit.

Wife was working on her duck pen and garden all afternoon so when she was all hot, sweaty and mad already so i chose my moment to ask for help. Well, this turned out to be a mistake, we made it through hanging one door, it was clear her motivation was lacking but the short curt responses were plentiful as I tried my damn best to support the door while she tried (over and over) to start the bolt.

We switch spots, I get the bolt started, easy peasy. Put bolt in the bottom and only to find out the hinge is frozen. It was now raining outside and instead of trying to keep the wife in shop helping we both just walked back to the house in the rain!

One night this week gonna spray the hinges and see what I can do to get things moving again. Somewhere in my stash Delancy had a new set, might just have to throw those on it.

It's progress!!! The pic was before we hung the door, not worth another pic!

put a new battery in it, lubed the carb linkage, pulled the choke, pump the pedal 3 times, cranked it for 5 seconds, and fired it up for the first time in 17 months. Then we went to get some fresh gas, and a bath. Hope y'all doin well!

Must be a Cowboy seat cover ?? I like it , tell me more ?

New to the forum, so might be the wrong place to post, but I just brought home a 1974 FJ55, and spent the whole day cleaning. Inside, outside and especially underneath. Spent about 2 hours with a putty knife and screw driver to scape off what looked like 50 years of baked on oil, grease and road grime. Followed that up with 3 cans of degreaser and the first car wash in decades? But now I can see where the leaks are and start to put together a game plan. Have been lurking on this site for a while but didn’t want to post anything until I brought her home. 1st LC for me but I’ve been jonesing for a pig since I first saw one 18 years ago. Any insight or recommendations on where to start appreciated. For now, I’m looking to stop the bleeding (seems to be oil/gas from the head and maybe rear brake line) and start putting the action plan together.

Awesome and welcome.
Nice pig.
Here is info i shared previously.

Going through this over the last year with a new to me pig my route would be:
Check driveline and inspect all fluids before worrying about the interior.
Pull and check driveshafts and check joints. Mark the driveshaft for phase before taking off.
Unless there is documentation, I’d suggest replacing all fluids, starting with the brake fluid.
Clutch and brake master cylinders are relative cheap if you feel yours are suspect.
Replace fuel filter.
Check the front birfields, pretty easy to tell if they leak. It’s tedious and super messy, but not that challenging.
A handy laser temperature gauge can check your thermostat if the dash gauge isn’t working.
@cruiseroutfit is a great resource as noted.
Know bobm uses = words to 😃
Everyone on here is super-helpful and this forum is an incredible resource.

Enjoy…

Right on, looks pretty solid for a PNW Pig 👍🏻
Don’t know the full history- it’s been in Portland at least the last 3-4 years, but I did find a California license plate in the back (though it looked brand new). The rust is pretty minimal- of course at the front fenders, and the rear gate, where everyone seems to have it, but all the body mounts are solid and only a little rust at the panel under the doors. The pan has some spots that could use some love, but it is mostly solid. And the drip rails are very good.
