Welcome to the group! Good leak free brakes are top on the list. How does it run otherwise?
After the degrease and a little around town driving yesterday, no new leak at the rear brake this morning and the brake fluid is still full at the master cylinder. And the line looks pretty new, so maybe the PO replaced the line but didn’t bother to scape off the literal 1/2” of caked grime from the axle and leaf springs.

I drove it home from Portland Friday night. Surface streets the whole way, and a few stops to let it cool off/check fluids were holding. It holds 45 on the speedometer (33s-so probably 55ish) fine on flats, but it is screaming at that speed. Wondering if PO might have switched the R&P to something with an even higher ratio than the stock 4.11. Going to check that out next.

Don't be shocked if you find that it's the original ratio. :D

Went to valley Hybrids swap meet yesterday check it out

Beerrun. Finally got the Pig running well enough to take it on public roads. Had to take the carb apart a few times to fix things i screwed up the first time.
Seemed to run well enough, decided to check and clean the the sparkplugs. Found out that some numbskull had forgotten to snug the plugs down and they had been in finger-tight for the drive to town. Fixed that and found that it drove even better. Manifold vacuum is up and it runs pretty strong now.
I sorta like running without the hood, but i think I'm done with the valve job and should put it back on.

Took Ferkel out for a spin. Then i really stepped it up and took the kids for ice cream as the sun was setting. back in the dark.. It all worked out tho:)

The hood latch cable suddenly not working since I reattached after installing the new kick panels.. always something to keep me busy.

Happy Friday!!!!

had to check the towing capacity of the pig today. proper trailer brakes would have made for a better tow but the sbc and 5 spd sure do make it nice. i dont need more s*** but cant turn down good parts rigs

Some small things getting ready for PP24.
1) fixed electrical to license plate lights
2) took apart tailgate to clean and grease regulator plus used 3M rubber adhesive to fix the SLO Cruisers window channel rubber into the metal runs, then cleaned glass

Tried and failed in fixing the 2nd row seat release latches. It will release the seat from the catches from the passenger side but not the driver side. Took everything apart but it looked all good and twists the release catch fine. Tried to adjust the receiver catches that are mounted to the pillars on top of both wheel wells. Also tried to slightly adjust the mounting points of the actual seat back to the body. Got too hot in the garage so…

Put some Dry Slide on dem rear seat cables. Liquid Grafite 😉👍😘
My 1969 doesn’t have cables. Just a bar through the back of the seat that connects both latches. And the bottom of the back seat has no hold down at all other than those heavy tools/bars and gravity.

Nice work! How much of that 3m adhesive did you use? I am about to install my rear window upper seal as well.
Thankfully I haven't has to wrestle with the back seat mounts. I dont recall seeing that challenge posted here yet... you might be the first!

With the 3M adhesive for rubber to metal less is more! Lay down a thin bead on both surfaces then use a brush or popsicle stick to flatten the bead out and spread. Then wait till both sides are tacky before pressing together. Ideally let bind for 24 hours to fully cure.

I got in the iron pig this morning, pulled the choke, depressed the accelerator fully, and I hear "tink" and the sound of a nut falling, hitting a header collector, then the ground.
It started, perfectly but idled high.
I popped the hood and discovered my throttle return spring had broken and fallen clean off.
I rummaged in my collection of springs, and found one that's a little stiffer.
May help with fuel mileage, I'm not holding my breath, but the new spring seems to work great.
