recently had a problem with a spill in the rear cargo area; well i took out the carpet and got everything cleaned up well today i was getting out some bags out of the back and they were wet. seems water is coming in from the rear left side (driver side) checked the vent window all dry checked the jack area all dry the carpet on the bottom door is also dry it seems to be coming in from the bottom some where any ideas??? took carpet out again we had lots of rain in the past 2 days there is water on the inside of the rubber seal so it coming in the some where inside???

Top part of the rear hatch possibly.

thanks for the reply so you think its runing down the post and coming out the bottom? is there a drain plug down there that may be bocked?

thanks will check it out went out this morning and there is some water there so its definetly not coming up fromthe wheel well (the car was parked over night) i have to go to work today so i cant play with it put thanks again for the info; its under warranty put i live far from the lexus place and dont have time right now. thanks again

No problem. That's what MUD's for. :D I'm like you, not really near a dealer either.

well went to dealership this afternoon and they said its the weatherstipping and has to be replaced parts on order and will fix on wednesday; now i also asked for the carpet to be replaced (funky smell) so we will have to see if lexus customer comes first blah blah still holds up. thanks for the help

Hope they take care of you. If you're stuck with that carpet buy yourself some febreeze for cars. I keep that at my office for my work trucks. Does a pretty decent job knocking out odors.

well here is some news if anyone still reads this post apparently the back hatch has been leaking for some time (rear carpet is discolored from stains under plastic hatch cover) so i insisted on replacing the carpet they said no and just shampoed (sp?) the carpet. how is that for customer service this is a brand new 68k vehicle i was pissed have a call into the customer rep with the detaisl willpost what happens now i am not asking for the entire carpet to be replaced just the back section in the tail gate i took the carpet out myself in 10 minutes in the heat soit not a real big job just the cost of the carpet 700.00 as per the parts dept.

Damn new 06 LX with a seal leak and it discolored the carpet and they don't think they should replace it??? I would be pissed, just like you are. Take it up the line and burn some ears. Good luck. Let us know what happens

Your request seems very reasonable asking only for the tailgate portion to be replaced. In a new vehicle with air and pollen filtration and an air pollution sensor, why should they expect you to live with possible mildew in your carpet, besides the discoloration in a new vehicle. They should replace the carpet under warranty. As SWUtah indicates, this is worth taking up the line.

well got lexus to talk to the dealership and they agreed to replace carpet today is tuesday so i will probably take a couple of days; i am happy its getting replaced but still very annoyed i had to go to the 1800 number to get anything done. will post once i get the new one in thanks

Glad they were persuaded. You definitely were owed that much.
