Trail Report

Well I went down in the FJ and met Neil in his TJ and Eric and Jesse showed up sans Samurai.....Erics still tryin to finish the Sami and Jesse is the guy i bought the FJ from......

We hit the trails in the 2 trucks...

The FJ was mildly plagued by carb trouble sometimes idling at 2000rpm and sometimes barely staying running....

Then I knocked a tire off the bead and we had to pull it off and reseat it...

And the worst FJ moment of the day had to be when a failed hillclimb left me sliding backwards and a low hanging vine caught the windshield frame twisting it and shattering the glass....:frown:

Time for plexi :hmm:

Heres the only pic I got...fresh off the trailer before the bad shiite started........will get more from eric and jesse and post them soon

Windshield in a buggy?

I keep mine folded down the majority of the time on the trail to minimize chance of breakage (though i'll admit i'm happy to have it (up) when following others on dusty fire roads).

How'd the FJ work otherwise? Any other necessary debug/mods?

Bet it was a little soup-ey out there with all the rain lately!

ya the real 35 year old glass needed to go anyways i guess....

I should have had it down to begin with but this fold down thing is new to me........

the biggest thing to debug is this carb situation.....

the front fenders rub/catch/and bend with the front tires...

the drum brakes suck ballz......especially when sliding downhill backwards at a 60 degree angle......

Did I mention i miss fuel injection already?

Ahh and the slippery slope of upgrade madness begins.

I remember the first time i went out stock, with four mis-adjusted, worn, wet drum brakes...
slid backwards down a hill (more like rolled), into a tree, whilst tearing my seatback wide open putting so much force on the pedal... I now have four disks and it stops better than my DD pickup!

Wellsville pics

Heres a few good wellsville pics...

1. the hillclimb i didnt make and the tree that broke my windshield! (thanx for spoolin cable Eric,Jesse,n Neil......i was busy applying 300 lbs of pressure to the brake pedal!)

2. the mudhole that took 3 trys in 1st... so then i floored it thru in second!! (mud smells great but tastes better!)

3. My tire that apparently needed more than 3psi to stay on the rim!...(who knew?)
