Looks good, there will be some warping when welded. All of the rigs that I have seen have a bottle jack mounted to hit the rim edge, so runout can be adjusted/corrected as/after it's welded.

like said the first whee was ok . working this way im not fighting gravity the first wheel seems to have a .025 dip in in one eighth . the total run out seems to be around .035 should it be closer or is this amount ok :hhmm: im thinkin this should be fine the tires probibly not that close

runout

I have no idea what "proper" runout might be. I suspect that with the rubber runflats and everything else that makes these 160lbs each, that .035" runout will not be the number one cause of horrible vibrations.

just checking id run them on my truck:D

well ill check the first one i did but it sounds like they dint know what they were doing:hillbilly::wrench:

centers

had a go at cutting the old centers yet? I am dying to see one put together (new center, with the outer cut). Glamor shots when you can!

IMHO those are great numbers. If the tires are within 1/8" I would be shocked, most big tires have a ton of runout.

put the first one back on checked it got a little move ment about .010 . the bottle jack is a good idea you could straighten wheels for extra$$ i know some guys (vance) that could stand to have some work like that done.:flipoff2:

complete wheel

as for the other side the wheel is 3/4" to big to fit in the lathe  . i really wanted a clean machined line on that part . i did one here is what i did . i started by making a trace template to cut it with the plasma. the abs fitting seemed to work well . not done with the machines might have a slick idea for the mill :hhmm:

wonderd why they were so heavy:eek:

spare

Keep track of which one you think is the worst of the set, I will use that as the spare.

did you get them cleaned up ? waiting to see a pic:D

not yet

I have been scrambling to get everythign ready for the big trip to the paint booth starting tomorrow. Loading the trailer and all that. The wheels are not going to make it to the paint booth with me. :frown:

Besides, I still need my valve stems and o-rings to arrive before I could properly assemble them anyway. But I will as soon as I can.

first look

Okay, it took awhile since Shawn welded up my weels for me until today, but it is amazing how much work has to be done. Got them all cleaned up, and painted, and the horrible runflats installed (in 3 of the 5 so far) and thought I would post up a pic of what the wheels will look like whan done. Shawn also modified my gas tank for me, he rocks! If there is welding to be done, he is the man!!!!

Looks like you have the problem solved,
There used to be a place called Wood's Wheels in Phx. They could weld up any wheel true and straight. This was years ago. They might still be in biz. They are at 27th Ave and ?? Bethany somewhere around there. Those guys were good. They could make any wheel out of raw metal.

i learnd a thing or too from old jack woods . they moved shop and he does buggies mostly
