I recently picked up a 1987 JDM Hilux Crew cab. It's mexhanically solid as a rock with a factory 2L diesel, but it's unfortunatley quite a rust bucket.
Frame's fine, just heavy body rust. The worst of it is in the bed that's got holes all over and the seam where the floor meets the front of the bed is completely chewed out. In the cab the worst is where the floor meets the back of the cab. That entire seem is also chewed out. Beyond that, there's a small hole in the passenger floor and damage around the windshield.
I'm not going to be able to afford a brick and mortar shop, that much is certain. So I'm looking for a welder who does this type of work on the side and may be able to offer something more reasonable when it comes to an hourly rate. Not looking to do a flawless restoration here, just trying to keep this thing from rusting off the frame years down the road.
I live in NYC and the truck is currently is currently in Philadelphia. So anywhere in NJ or reasonably close in PA or NY would work. Any and all reccomendations are welcomed. Thanks guys.
