I have a 94 LC that I am recently having trouble getting started at odd times, seeming to happen when the temperature is very high. The truck will start up just fine, run with no problems. After I park it to do whatever I am out to do, I come back to start it up, it clicks once then nothing. Full power to everything else, just a click and no start. I let it sit for 5-10 minutes, then it will start up and off we go. It seems to happen, only occasionally, when the temperature is above 100 F, (I live in the desert of Southern California). Here's the real strange part...I had the same issue when I lived in Montana last year but the problem seemed to stem from oxidation built up on the battery terminals. I would clean the terminals, spray with protectant and be good to go until it built up again. However, there is no buildup this time, I cleaned and sprayed again but the problem persists and I'm not sure where to go next. Do I just have a bad starter and, when the heat is high, it is unable to perform? Is it a carryover from my previous oxidation problem, and has moved up the cables, underneath the casing and I need to replace one or all of them? In advance I appreciate any help that can be tossed my way!

I am no wiz with this stuff, but the first thing I would check would be the connections at the starter and all ground connections. Remove them clean them and install. I have had past issues due to bad grounds but it was a fj40, not my 80.

Starter solenoid

That would be the next thing I would look at. The contacts will start to act up over time.
