I was doing some work with my mother this weekend and her 04 LX470 wouldn't start. It was really wierd. When you put the key in the ignition it started to turn over then nothing. My first thought was the battery was low so I parked my LX450 in front of hers to give it a jump but I was really busy so it took me a few hours to get back to it. Then when I came back out, when I put the key in it wouldn't even turn. I checked the headlights and they were nice and bright. Given that we were in a less than desirable neighborhood and her car was parked on the street I thought someone might have tried to steal it. I had it towed to the Lexus dealer and this morning they walk out and it fires right up. They told my mother that is might have been something with the leveling system but, it sounds like a loose wire to me.

Any thoughts?

Checking starter contact is a bear, as the starter is under the intake manifold, in th V of the V-8. All day job! Might want to elliminate other possible issues. 75K miles sounds early for contacts.

Might be lose wires, fuse, or fuseable links. It could be your keychain is interfering with the CPU's ability to read the chip in your key.
