I haven’t been able to find anything on this. Do any of you know what this is? I have no idea what could have caused it - I just noticed it the other day. Tiny pits in the glass of the driver side window, interior.

I see streaks. Is that what you mean? We’re your windows tinted post-OEM?

If the blobs that look like water droplets are the pits you’re referring g go, that seems like it might be defective glass on a re-do.

Stop by a glass shop and I’d wager they’ll have a good idea of what that might be.

Ok, I’ll do that. Yes, it’s the small blobs that look like water droplets - those are tiny chips in the glass. It’s original glass on a 2013, so very strange that they just showed up today.

Never seen that on oem glass. Very weird...especially on the inside. Makes me think of odd scenarios like a kid banging something on it.

No cracks though?

No cracks. I do have four kids though, and they’re in the LC all the time - including a ski trip this weekend - so could be that. I interrogated them, but failed to obtain a confession.

Well, case solved, even if the perp(s) not identified.

Have you had it since new? My windows look similar, but that's because I have chips in the tint from one of the previous owners. If all your windows had been tinted then it very well could be chips in the tint film.

Based on how dark the outside looks in your picture on what seems to be a bright day, I'd wager that it has to do with your tint, and window itself is fine

I have not had it since new. I think you’re right - it does seem fairly shallow, so may just be the tint and not the window. I presume the tint chips easier than OEM glass?

Definitely chips easier than the glass. Also depends on what tint material was used. For example my daily I had tinted by a decent quality tint and no issues. Whoever tinted my 200 I can actually scratch away at the tint if I wanted to. So I can only assume they didn't understand the difference in material quality for tint.

those are marks in the window tint, my 13 lx had them, took it to a window tintt guy and he told me they see this from women’s wedding rings, diamonds hitting the glass when seatbelts are taken on and off, or it’s the seatbelts them selves hitting the window when you take them off

I agree. Aftermarket film tint. I believe factory tint on the all the windows minus the front seats is part of the glass. Front seat glass is not tinted from the factory. That’s Been the case for the 80,100 and 200 series.

To best of my knowledge and the window tint owner this tint is oem

If I understand your post correctly, that is not correct. The only OEM "tint" is integral to the glass - there is no such thing as an OEM tint film that is applied over the glass.

HTH

Piling on - tint is damaged, who cares who and how the tint got there, it is the source of the visible defect. I had the same thing happen with a tint job from a PO and it bugged me until I replaced it.

Look for the glass chips in the cracks of the floor... If it’s recent...they might be there.Small hand vacuum...then dump out the contents. Then hold a bright flashlight at a sharp angle near the surface you dump it on. Will help

This.

That’s why my other question asked if a post-OEM tint had been applied.

My 2008 had basically no tints, but the after-market window don’t on driver is on there so smoothly that it doesn’t look like an external tint is on the surface...

I had a similar problem. Do you ever bang your metal seat belt end into the window/tint film when taking it off? Given the position of the metal end when swinging it over your shoulder makes it easy to strike the window. The strike leaves a little pock mark in the tint film.

Not that I’ve ever noticed, and I’m pretty careful/observant about this type of thing. It went suddenly from no marks to several marks. But I’ll check to see if that’s it.

Its definitely the seat belt banging the glass, I've done it to every tint job I've ever had. I watch the number of nicks grow as the years go by.

I’ll add to the list of people pointing to the seatbelt being the culprit.

Happened to me about 6 months after purchase. I’d never had the problem before but something about the seatbelt set up in my LX lead me to dinging the driver’s glass without knowing it.

I went to the dealer to see what was going on and they mentioned the seatbelt thing. A month later I watched it happen on the passenger side as a friend took off her belt and it went into the glass without her noticing it.

After getting new tint I put a wrap around the seatbelt to slow the retraction and remind me to be cautious which has helped.
