I can't find the weight listed on the FJ, Anybody have a brochure that states lbs?

Auto should be heavier than 6spd.

Just wondering about towing wheels down..

curb weight - 4050 lbs(2wd) 4290(4wd manual) 4295(4wd automatic)

man, that's a porker. I thought/hoped it would have enough plastic in it to come in around 3500..guess i need a bigger RV!

Everything is getting fatter these days...even the current bare-bone Jeep Rubicon weighs in at 3700 lbs...and that thing does not have half of FJC's safety & luxury features. Blame safety features and body-on-frame design. A strong fully-boxed frame does not help either.

What's interesting is that the FJC weighs as much as my '02 4runner 4wd Ltd.

Though the engine has enough power to haul this little panzer tank around.

Page 237 of the owner's manual states, " Your vehicle is not designed to be dinghy towed (with four wheels on the ground) behind a motorhome. Do not tow your vehicle with four wheels on the ground. This may cause serious damage to your vehicle."

This is common on most 4wd vehicle...especially those with full-time system or AWD. Flatbed tow all the time!

just FYI, the fj40 and 60 manual says in the same general words..do not tow your rig.

Correct most AWD systems can not be towed at all, Subaru can if it is a Standard shift, the 4wd Honda CRV is a very popular AWD that can be towed wheels down.

I have yet to see a 4X4 with lock out/in hubs and a neutral in the transfer case that could not be towed. I towed my fj62 all over oregon (albiet very slowly up the hills, that's some kinda dead weght THere).

The warning is a cover the bases deal, NO, I have not even seen a FJ yet, but if the the criteria is met it will tow.

H**ps tow with out lock out hubs on them..all of them.
