I have noticed that my 62 seems to leak a little water here and there. I cannot find any rhyme or reason for why it does it one day and then not another. At first I could not find where it was coming from as it seemed to be dripping from the driver side shackle area. After letting it sit this weekend I put a piece of cardboard under and it dripped a spot about the size of a silver dollar overnight. The puddle was almost right below the belts. This was the first time it has dripped there. Some days no water at all. Any thoughts?? Is my water pump going?? Do they start like this or do they just go?? Thanks for any help. Jim

There is a weep hole on the bottom of the rotating seal on the water pump. It might be an inconsistent leak depending upon how hard you've driven the truck right before you turn it off. After you turn the engine off, heat from the engine still conducts into the coolant, raising it's temperature and it's pressure. This higher pressure might cause little leaks.

I recently replaced my upper radiator hose on my FJ-60, because it was rubbing against the power steering pump. I drove it from San Franciso to San Diego (eight hours straight of driving). I didn't seem to lose any water on the way down, but once there I parked it at the hotel and the next morning there was a little puddle of coolant on the floor. I also saw coolant on some of the belts. There was also a little moisture on the bottom side of the upper radiator hose. I tightned the hose clamps and the leak seems to have stopped.
