So I plugged in the remote to my Warn 8274, and all I got was the solenoid's clicking?
The clutch operates smoothly, and when disengaged, the winch lines pulls out smoothly
as well.

The winch (which came on my new-to-me 1980 FJ40) looks to be in near perfect shape,
and was barley used. I can't imagine it's seized up??? But I have had issues with Warn
winches seizing before...

Anyhow, any thoughts would be great!!??!! I was attempting to run it just off the battery
(as my carb is pulled right now) but as far as I know, that shouldn't be a problem...

stuck solenoid most likely, might not be engaging all the way... try hitting the solenoid's box with your fist while your activating the controller

just from my personal experience the warn solenoids are fu*king junk especially on the 12k winches:bang:

Solenoid's, mine did the same, replaced all 4.
Warn wants an arm and leg for them, look on e-bay for about half the price.
Or I did all 4 of mine, not sure if they were all bad (doubt it) you can have them and try to figure
which ones are good.

Have you pulled the cover and cleaned all the connections to the solenoids. Test each solenoid first. The 8274 needs a solid ground as well....like a bumper.

Thanks for the suggestions...I will explore it all this weekend when I get out in the garage...

I suspect a ground issue actually... but we'll see.

thanks!

When rebuilding an 8274 last winter I was surprised at how critical a good ground was to make the sucker run well.
