Trouble shot the control box, check each solonoid pack, verified control wire locations,
(A)rmature, F1 and F2 locations verified- OK. Ohm the leads from the control box to the winch motor and confirmed a good ground- everyhing checks out. Opened the motor housing and discovered that the F1 terminal rotated and broke the bonding material between the terminal post (steel) and the (cooper) winding. Does anyone no what type of bonding agent is used to secure this connection? Thanks ahead of time-

After some research I found this:

......I suspect that it was silver-soldered to the winding as brazing would melt the copper.

The silver solder used to mate two different metals looks like brass but melts at a lower temptureand that is needed to protect the copper from becoming brittle from too much heat.

My suggestion is call several welding shops or stop by one and find out if they can do this for you. They will want to look the job over to see if they can complete it and still have a good workable connection without ruining the copper winding. If it was silver soldered before the shop should be able to do it for you.

An alternator or starter repair shop can also perform this work.

Note to self use to wrenches next time one to hold the jam nut and the other to secure the connection.
