Hi, i received a warn M6000 for free, 12V and i own a troopy 24V, can i upgrade to 24V and put in a more powerfull motor, i know a troopy is heavy but with snatch blocks it will do,although very slowely, any suggestions,thanks

Sell it and throw in a little extra money for a min. 8000 lb winch. You won't always have the time/patience/length of cable available to run a snatch block.
 
I used an m6000 on a '40 for a while, years ago. Used it a lot. Double lined it a LOT. Added cable extensions a lot. Spend over an hour one night pouring water over it to cool it as I winched several other rigs up a steep bank with double and even triple line rigging.

It served me well.


But...

Sell it, use it under the back of your rig as a secondary winch, put it on a trailer to load dead rigs... one way or the other I would suggest that you do not use it as the primary winch on your troopy.

(When mine died, it was not the motor that failed it was the drive gear on the shaft that split.)
