OK, I'm new to this whole cruiser thing, and I recently purchased a 1988 FJ62 as a daily driver. My question has to do with it's warm start performance. When the abient temp is above 40 or so, or if i driven it and parked it for an hour or so, the Cruiser is very reluctant to start and idle properly. It takes a lot of throttle and revving to get the motor to idle consisently. Also low speed performance (under 2000 rpm) is really poor in these conditions.
If the temp is under 40 it starts like a champ and has no problems running. If the vehicle is hot, it also starts right up.
When i purhcased the vehicle, i did a full tune up (new plugs, wires, rotor, cap, air/fuel filter) I have also done a valve adjustment, an oil flush, replaced the PCV valve and hoses.
So where should i turn my attention to? I've removed and cleaned the cold start injector, run several cans of injector cleaner through it, and generally have tried get it tuned.
So what is the most likely culprit? Sticky EGR? Bad/poorly adjusted ISC? TPS? Dirty intake? Something I'm missing completely? Any suggestions, advice, or similar experiences will be greatly appreciated.
