Thought I'd throw this out there.

Search the 80 Series forum for "Bad #2 Piston & Cylinder. Now What?" It explains what I've been doing and the status of the project.

I've been doing nearly all the work alone in the front driveway. Neighbors, except one, aren't much into vehicles, neither is family.

I thought maybe some other novices or shade-tree mechanics would like to see how all the engine stuff goes together. Especially any of you with a 3FE engine. Or if an engine-head would like to watch a novice & laugh (or give friendly advice).

I'll be cleaning and honing this weekend, then starting my reassembly next weekend, then taking a weekend off for a float, then 1st weekend in October back on reassembly & hope to finish.

My cell is 314-973-0028, I'm in Crestwood, 5 minutes from I-270 & I-44, come by for a beer & I'll pull you up a lawnchair. Don't expect you to help, but wouldn't turn you down.

Joe

You still planing to get the head and stuff on, in a couple weeks. If you need a hand, I'll try to make it. I'm not too far from you.

I'll be out on the Big Piney River this weekend. I got almost all the parts and next week will get my FINAL (hopefully) shipment from CDan & rod studs installed at local machine shop all ready for next weekend (10/6-10/7). Here's some pics.

This is the first time I've done any engine work. After I got some pistons in, I filled the top part of the cylinders with oil to see if any leaked through. It's still full, so I think my low tech, re-ring job is working.

I have a family deal during the day next Saturday, but morning & late afternoon or Sunday I'll be on it if you'd like to stop by.

Realize the block is in the car. My "brilliant" plan for the head is to hold it over the block, have others start a few head bolts to assure alignment, then slowly lower the head to the block. The radiator is out, so I can stand (slumped over a bit) in the engine compartment. That's the plan, we'll see.

Seems like I should be helping you out. Checked out your FJ55 build. I should finish up mine mid-October, so if you need help after that, give me a call.

Thanks for the offer,

Joe
