Little info for all looking for a replacement muffler. I read the threads posted here on aftermarket mufflers. The Walker stainless #55329 seemed to be a ok choice and at a good price but some posted fitament problems at the outlet and tailpipe. So I went ahead and called Walker tech and they assured me it's a direct OEM replacement with no modifications needed...ok great thank you and I go ahead and order the Walker 55329. Well sure enough the OE tailpipe will not line up with the Walker outlet, it's offset by a good 3" WTF now i'm pissed after I was assured a perfect fit. We played with it and made some mods and bends to the hangers but I dont like it and now the tailpipe rubs the exit at the trailer hitch and the whole system is stressed, no good... Walker is sending me a new tailpipe with resonator free of charge to try and see if that will correct the problem. I told the Walker tech to make note in his system of a fitiment problem with this muffler using the OE tailpipe. I will let you know how the new Walker tailpipe fits when installed.

Had one installed few years ago when my OEM exhaust finally rotted from the inside out... it fit okay.

It's not true stainless steel unfortunately as the Walker site/description are a bit deceptive. The pipes are aluminized steel and the muffler is a lower-grade stainless. I only had it for three years before it rusted out so bad thanks to living in the salt belt (despite continuous washings underneath) that I replaced it with a Borla catback.

Hope it works out for you!

I Agree.... its definetley not a quality stainless steel as described. It looked aluminized to me. I went ahead and painted it with high temp paint prior to installing it. Not sure if I should keep it or send it back and go OEM for a few extra bucks.

I see you're in NJ, I'm not sure how they salt the roads down there but here our roads are pure white once it starts snowing (and it's not white from snow!). I would wash it at least once or twice a week and blasted the hell out of the undercarriage and even with that it rusted out within two and a half/three years.

My friend had the same problem with this Walker exhaust on his 99; he figured he'd save some extra money and just keep up on keeping it clean underneath and it came to bite him in the arse later on.

I would just send it back and go with at least OEM, it's worth the extra penny IMO.

I'm at the top of NJ and we have the same heavy salted roads here too. That liquid calcium they spray on the roads eats up metel very quickly. I have never seen so many rusty trucks like I do now.
