I have 1993 BJ73 with the VM588 turbo diesel. It is in excellent condition, runs and drives great for what it is. I am trying to find a set of glow plugs for it. The ones in it work and it starts when weather is above freezing. Anything below is very difficult. It has Delhi HDS348 in it and they look to have been installed shortly before it was imported. No where can I seem to come up with a part number for the original plugs. Closest thing I can find are for 1992 Alfo Romero with the 5 cylinder VM HR -588HT. That number is 6 33 75 90 164. Not able to cross-reference it to the HDS348. They are considerable different from each other. HDS348 shorter, cross the AR number to Champion CH70 witch is longer.
This would put the tip in a different location and change the compression of the cylinder. Might just see if they fit, turn over by hand, check for damage, glow and start.
What do you know out there?
let's stay positive about the fact I am running this engine for several years. Might be able to upgrade then.
