IH8MUD Members,

My name is Bob Roebuck. Unfortunately, I think Toyota Matt has scammed me. I placed my order on 09 September 2024. My order number is 6072, for a total of $596.50. I have placed a few orders from him in the last two years, and it has been slower and slower. Now I can't get an answer from him. I have sent him five messages about this order, and I have no answer. I need help getting in touch with him. I hope I can get my money back. I think Toyota Matt and vintageteq.com are scams. Toyota Matt, please prove me wrong.

Yes sir. It’s getting really old!!! I have tried to contact him multiple times both on his website and on this site as a PM. Still nothing.

He took a week to send out the Brake Master Cylinder cap. So far as I know, it just got dropped off at USPS or whatever it was

WOW…I just pulled up Communication Portal 4.0. Maybe the Mud Moterator on duty today should give Matt a call and discover the mounting short comings of Matt’s previous & highly rated “CUSTOMER FOCUS” approach. He’s slipping dangerously close to losing his most supportive customer base. If it’s a personal or medical issue I’m sure a reprieve is warranted for an appropriate period of time. I also have a September non-delivery issue and discovering my alternative means of personal contact are proving non productive. I know he’s heavily involved with the development of new products but lapses into his familiar “Padawan” dialect when attempting to describe his daily routine.
I want this gentleman to succeed in his passion for this unique community…but right now something is outrageously impacting his current business model.

Sir,

I sent him a PM and various messages. I spent almost $600.00 and I can even get a FU.

Time to hire some helpers. Don’t want to see another Wits End go down. He’s got some great products but if you can’t get them shipped then you need to find some help. I hope it turns around, but I’m hesitant to place any orders anymore til then.

Extremely hard to find good help these days, so just hiring is easier said than done. I've had great experiences with Matt over the years, but no recent orders placed with him. Sorry to hear this news.

Same here, made an order back in July, radio silence since. Even asked twice in that other thread. $hit gets old man.

Used to be Labor was cheap and Technology was expensive, now it's the opposite. Hiring help, good or bad, is costly for a small business if they want to stay competitive, even in niche markets. Matt does the best he can, just needs to spend less time phone chatting ! ;)

:deadhorse:

I'll bet he processes all backorders...
...eventually.

Seems like he does this every six months or so. He'll finally come back and say it was family issues or whatever. :meh:

Folks definitely need to be aware that he does this regularly, and then decide whether it's worth the hassle or not.

Call credit card company and do a charge back eventually they will shut him down.

I always use Amex and they always good care of their customers in these situations.

I agree, dude seems genuine but taking this long to simply move product doesn't help your own business.

I don't mind supporting people but time is money.

maybe spike is blind to the pages of bad seller beware threads.

Could Matt improve his service? Obviously, but this has been discussed ad nauseum: One man shop, one guy doing everything. Does he drop the ball sometimes? Yes. Should he hire people to stuff boxes and get the mailers out? Are you willing to pay for it?

Give the guy a break. He works his skinny ass off. (no, I've never seen it )

No need for you to shoot arrows here just cuz you have a personal beef with him. I don't know you, but I respect that you're a long-time Cruiser Head with lots of experience and knowledge so maybe we should try and keep niche vendors viable instead of knocking them, when they're really trying to support our habit.

Solution is simple: buy from Matt and sometimes you'll have to be patient, he ain't Amazon. And FWIW, the OP of this thread talked to Matt and has his parts are on the way. No hard feelings. I hope he chimes in here... I don't think there's anyone who hasn't eventually gotten their parts, or money back if parts aren't available. Again, we know Matt can do better, and I hope he does 'cuz he's a great resource, but he's like the guy making violins in his garage - the best ones take time.

Cheers.

He is NOT in this to screw people.

I actually agree with you but if you have been waiting for months, didn't get any response to your DMs or emails or phone calls, you can't really blame someone for doing a CC charge back as a last resort approach to the problem because once a certain time passes, that window of opportunity closes.
