I just had a buddy over with his Axial, and my boy just about lost his friggin' mind.

I have done R/C in the past, and if I dig deep enough in the attic Ill probably be able to find all of my old stuff.

My question: For a "cheapish" entry level crawler, what do you guys think about the Venom Creeper with all of my old servos and speed controller. Its an older Futaba 2ch, so I know that if we get into it we will be wanting to upgrade to 3ch for dig. I'm sure I can probably also hit up Justin for some of his "outgrown" parts and pieces.

Id like to do something "constructive" with the old crap in the garage, and these R/C crawlers are a hoot.

i looked at the venom too but they were new and having horrible time of breaking shafts within the first hour of use. Granted their customer service seemed good in supplying new parts (which dont have a history of breaking) so maybe they rushed the product to the market place.

but axials are easy to find and economical as a used unit. Losi night crawler new for under 300 too.

axial ax10 rtr, rtc is your best bet. they are very durable and the product support is awesome. electronics have come a long way in a very short time so you will probably want to invest in a newer radio, servos, lipos, etc. i can get a hour+ run time out a battery smaller than a pack of cigs.

creepers are an okay truck but they have a sliding locking collar inside the axle which is not very reliable. i have seen them come unlocked during comps and eventually just break apart.

axial scx10( honcho, kit, TR) is a great truck if you want something that looks more scale. you can make a smaller version of your big truck and they perform just as well as the comp versions. i am big into scale trucks so i buy a kit every few months to modify. good luck with your decision. check out rccrawler.com and look at some of the builds. and rpphobby.com has great prices.

check out the action shots for some pics of my crawlers.
