Hi all,

I just ordered a VAIS MML kit for my 2003 LC (not installed yet, but will do so in a week or two).

>> MODEL NO. QTY CHARGE DESCRIPTION
>> 00111 1 249.99 MML (KIT) for 2003 GX470 with
>> Navigation AM/FM/cassette 11-spk 124W ASL and 6-disc CD changer

I also want to be able to connect my iPhone 4S via Bluetooth or cable, so I can make and receive calls over the car's stereo - with hands free support - while also (without having to plug/unplug cables) using the iPhone as my stereo's sound source.

Any idea as to how to achieve that? I have read about "Parrot". What does that do? Would that be what I need...?

Thanks,
Lars

MML doesn't do that. I found out the hard way. I'm going to GROM audio's bluetooth + charging system. I've looked high and low, and the options suck ballz.

You're going to need to go in a different direction to get what you want. cancel the order before it's too late.

MML only adds the ability to connect a USB device to play on your stock system using the MD changer emulation. Still need a bluetooth setup for phone calls. I have the MML in my 2005 which also has bluetooth.

I just got the GROM audio in the mail. BT3 I think. It offers bluetooth for phone and audio, and a charging cable at additional cost.

Anyone wanna buy an MML?

Just an update if anyone's interested. (x-post in iPhone 5 integration thread)

GROM Audio BT3 installed and working. Hid the mic in the roof console. Bluetooth audio from iPhone 5 sounds great. Phone calls IMO are not as good sounding as when using the cassette adapter. I got the additional USB cable and use it for charging only.

I'm a bluetooth noob so I have some understanding to do. For example, every time the phone goes in the car the music starts up even if I had paused it when leaving the car previously, unless I completely turn off the app playing the tunes. That's kind of a pain, but I suspect it's a resolvable issue.

The BT3 doesn't do two things I liked about the MML. It doesn't override the "I agree" requirement on the NAV system and it does require that the external changer be disabled. Why they couldn't use a piggyback plug for the head unit harness like MML did I don't know.

Bottom line to me was that the choices are limited. I couldn't find one that did exactly what I was after. If someone were to combine all the best features of the different options there'd be one great unit! Until then I think the GROM BT3 is the one that does most of what I wanted out of an integration system. It's REALLY great not to have a bunch of wires hanging around the dash and console.

MML is going into the classifieds here.

Where did you mount the MML interface box?

So is the MML the best option if I already have BT in my2004.

I would have kept it if it handled the phone end as well. Works great for what it does.
