I have decided to put my FJ40 up for sale. I am selling it because; a few months ago I bought an old military deuce and a half and want to start on this project immediately. Details about the 40 are below, if I can get you any detailed pictures of other areas you would like to see or clarify any information on it, just let me know. I fully intended on keeping this 40 my whole life, so I tried to do everything accordingly. The details are as follows:

Body
The body is a 1970 FJ40; I bought the truck in Arizona about 2 years ago so the metal was in great shape, with no rust. I removed the body and had it sandblasted and primed, after that it was sealed and painted. The underside of the tub has been coated in POR15 and the inside of the tub has been covered with bed liner. The 40 has no rust, bondo, filler or dents in it. The paint does have a chipped place or two in it that was done during the reassembly.

Frame
The frame is the original that came with the body, coming from AZ it was in excellent shape as well. While the body was off it was power washed, wire wheeled and coated in POR15 as well. I have pictures of the bare frame and of it going thru the application of the POR15 saved if you would like to see those.

Motor/Driveline/Axles/Brakes
The motor is a desmogged 1976 2F with 4 speed transmission and transfer case. It has a brand new radiator and brand new trollhole cable operated carb, just installed last week. All fuel lines are brand new, with new stock glass bowl fuel filter. The throttle cable and choke cable are brand new as well. Before installing the motor in the frame I had the rear main seal replaced, as well as a new clutch, throw out bearing, etc… installed. A DUI distributor with brand new NGK plugs and brand new wires. It has a header and a stock intake with new Remflex gasket. The rear drive line is a custom made double cardan from Tom Woods. The front is from a 1976 FJ40 and has not yet been restored or put on the 40. The rear axle is stock with a rear disc brake upgrade, sold by Poser here on mud. The front axle has had a swap done so it has the fine spline birfs and of course disc brakes. The brakes lines are all brand new, as is the brake master cylinder, clutch master cylinder, line, and slave cylinder. Brand new shocks from BDS (CCOT).

Electrical
The front and rear wiring harnesses were both removed and unwrapped, cleaned up, and re-wrapped with harness wrap and placed in wire loom and put back into place. It still uses the stock wiring harness and fuse block.

Misc.
I have a Metal Tech Jackson cage, with frame tie in that has not been mounted in the 40 yet. The cage was built and welded by Metal Tech and then shipped to me here in VA. I have the brackets and FJ40 bucket seat that are in very good condition and have no rips, tears, or worn places on them. I also have the troop seats for the rear that are in very good shape with no rips, tears or worn places on them. It has a brand new HFS front bumper with shackles. I have the hard top and hard doors for this 40 as well. The hard top has not been redone yet and is still in its original condition. The metal is in great shape as are all the glass and seals. The fiberglass part does need a gel coat, as the previous owner drilled two holes about the size of a quarter in it to mount a CB. The PO also installed a 4” Safari leaf spring lift from SOR and the 40 has brand new BFG Mud terrains mounted on 17” FJ Cruiser steelies. The spare (not pictured here is brand new BFG MT on FJ steelie same as other 4 tires. All the body mounts have been replaced with brand new pads and bolts. The bolts mounting the hood, windshield, rear doors, and tire carrier have been replaced with stainless steel. Both heaters have been sandblasted, painted and refurbished. I do have the mirror heads still in boxes wrapped up to mount on the side mirrors.

The bad
I have just installed the new carb last week and installed the new hard fuel line this weekend and have not had time to fine tune the motor, it starts but needs to be tuned up. I have not bled the brakes yet. The clutch still needs to be adjusted.

Like I said I am selling this because I have fallen in love with the deuce and a half truck that I bought a bit ago, and am looking to sell this to help fund a restoration of that truck. I have no idea where to price this 40, but I was thinking $13,800 OBO for everything. Everything is negotiable here. That in no way covers what I have into this project, but we all know you never get that back. I am located in Southwestern Virginia not far from the VA/TN/NC line. If I can get you additional pics or if there is something I have missed that you have a question about, just ask and I will try to provide pictures or answer any questions. Not really looking for any trades.

PRICE REDUCTION $12,900, OBO

Nice looking 40. PM'ed you about an accessory for the Deuce.

Great grocery-getter!

Thanks!

Price is OBO, just looking to move it out to someone who will use and enjoy it, not really wanting to put it in storage.

Bump for the weekend crowd :D

Do you have a list of what needs to be done to get this on the road?
What about the top and doors? Pictures?

It needs ther air filter installed, the cage bolted in, the seats installed, the brakes bled, the clutch adjusted, and the motor fine tuned. I do have the hardtop and hard doors, but they have not had anything done to them yet. I can send you pictures of them if you want.

Bump and a question

what size are those tires? They look perfect

Doc

THanks! The tires are BFG Mud Terrain 255/80R17's.

It is not new, I bought a kit and refurbished it. It was the POR15 steering wheel refurbish kit.
