Im looking to do a v-8 swap to my 1992 fj80 with the 3fe ( currently has oil in coolant) looking at prices for a reman are anywhere from 4500-8000$ and figured for that price I could do a v-8 swap for abround the same…..

Ive been doing alot of research but most threads I find are for LS swaps which Id like to do but seem like alot of work…
This is what im looking to do I know probably not the best but I feel like itll be little less fab work and more to my skill level…..

1. 350sbc with EFI sniper kit mated to my a440f
only fab work would be cutting off motor mount and welding new ones in place, and of course all the custom accessory mounts hoses etc. I know the 440 is capable of handling it but couldnt find much info as to kickdown cable brackets and if there was anything else that I would need to do to make trans shift decently besides upgrading internal parts?? Also if anyone knows of any threads with detailed info I could read…

2. 350 tbi with 700r4 trans mated to stock hf2a which I know most swap out xfercase for a fj62 splitcase…

However i was wondering if I can just use the fj80 hf2a which I pln to install the Marks part time kit a d Aisin hubs will the adaptor from AA work pn# 50-8904A

Also was wondering if anyone had some advise as to what engine I should go with one that would work better then other ones?

Or does anyone know of a complete kit that will work with the FJ80

Cant seem to find any detailed threads on the 80 series if anyone knows of some that would awesome… Im doing my homework but figured it wouldnt hurt to ask for some assistance…

Thanks in advance.

Not sure if youve seen this, but try digging around in here:

I think you'll find that LS swaps are the most popular V8 swap. Second might be the 2uz Toyota for the "keep it Toyota" purists.
Yea tbats the way its is looking….

I would do a ls swap but with all the wiring and computers I just dont want to get into something I cant figure out… I have experience doing swaps but not LS swaps

Not my thread, but it might help the OP - are there any bolt in motor mounts for the LS (like the Torfab setup for the LT)?

Holley has done an incredible job marketing TBI technology older than your 3FE as an upgrade worth paying for.

There are countless companies making stand alone wiring harnesses for the LS engines and associated transmissions.

It's not an easy job. It's far from bolt in, but I don't think the wiring aspect is much to get worried about. I recommend getting pros involved for the wiring and ask their advice and direction.

If you really, really hate wiring then I do have a recommendation for you- Use a 12 valve Cummins and NV4500. Not much wiring to speak of there.

I understand its not a complete bolt in what I mean by bolt is less fab when it come to driveline crossmembers mounts that kind of stuff I know im going to have to cut out the motor mounts and weld in new ones I can do that and I can also figure out the fuel cooling power steering a/c im just not familiar with the modern engine and how they talk to each other….
The sniper kit will most likely come later on Im just trying to get some info or a build thread to help find the correct adaptors, there isnt many wires when it comes to a carb 350 Thats what Im shooting for initially then can go from there thats what I feel comfortable doing Im not trying to get all these people involved in something I dont really need I just want to get my cruiser running again if that means put another 3fe id gladly do that as well but its not very easy finding one….

Just rebuild your 3FE.

How do you need both?? Post up what you have going on.

I need a new head and possibly block and cant seem to find one half way decent shape or price
I have one or both but do not know history I sold the rocker assembly a couple weeks ago. They are out there but I would make sure of what you really need or why .

So what happened was had someone helping me replace my exhaust manifold while trying to remove the forward head bolt to get the front engine hook bracket out of the way he wasnt aware of the very front bolt on the manifold was not removed yet….. ill just say impact bolt wouldnt come out he kept trying until he realized the manifold bolt was stopping it….

Well lets just say got it all back together didnt think anything about it until i was bleeding air out of cooling system and almost immediately coolant turned brown and can see lots of oil in it engine runs but like total crap… Im just assuming it messed up the head and possibly the block I need to pull the head and double check which Im planning to do soon so in the mean time Im trying to figure out all my options
