the problem I have with electric fans is that they simply won't flow the same air under load.

I was on a trail run with Jim and all the 40s were running hot. That is one thing I can't stand. My 80 ran hot and it came down to air flow. I have since came up with a mod for the fan clutch that eliminates the problem.

Electric fans are all about fuel mileage on vehicles that don't have a high cooling demand whether it's small motors or low loads over land.

Show me one large displacement truck built today by Toyota that as an electric fan!

So I guess my next question is how do I know If I have a 4 core radiator or not?

and thank you all for posting, every little bit helps.

So I checked out my radiator to see if it is a 3 or 4 core, everywhere I read it says take the cap off and look inside and count, well my cap is offset to the back so you really cant just look inside, any other way to tell?

So does this mean you are sticking with a manual tranny? Otherwise its kind of a moot point.

If the core is as thick as the tanks are, it's a four core. If the core is a 1/2"ish thinner than the tanks, it's a three core. That's the best way I can describe it. Post pics if you're not sure.

ok I will look again tonight, thanks.

I'll figure the little stuff out after it's in.

still kinda hard to tell if it's a 3 or 4 core,,,
