Jeasus...

This has benn done about a bazillion times.

there will be a lot of fabowrk involved with making the motor (and tranny) fit. But it will be a fast truck when you are done with it.

i dont wanna throw in the t56 tranny that kills the whole point of 4x4 unless i can still use some kind of transfer case with the t56 and make a custom driveshaft?

The T56 is very long and I don't think anyone makes adapter plates for them to mate to a transfer case.

The fab work won't be that bad. Engine/trans mounts mainly and then choose either TH700R4 (1st gear 3:07/auto with OD) or NV4500 (1st gear 5.3x/manual with granny low and OD 5th). Advanced Adapters makes a kit and the LT1 has the standard SBC motor mount positioning.

Of note- Waggoneer has an FJ-62 with a 502 Mercruiser EFI big block in his rig and 4L80E auto (TH400 with OD). He previously had an LT1 in there that had plenty of room.

Hooking up the wiring harness to keep the EFI will be a matter of labeling each pinout from the PCM and eliminating wires you don't need (ie cruise control/smog air pump etc). Then powering up the system. You will need a return fuel line which you could either install a bung into your FJ-60 fuel tank or swap in an FJ-62 tank which is for an EFI motor already. PCMforless.com can reprogram your PCM. '92-93 I believe were speed density and '94-97 were Mass Air.

If you have the $$$ a 5.3 or 6.0 '99+ LSx style truck motor came from the factory with either the 4L60E (newer version of the TH700R4), 4L80E (very beefy from the factory), or the NV4500. They make a ton more power than the LT1 and after rebuilding your current motor the cost difference I imagine won't be much.

http://www.car-part.com is a good place to look for pullouts from wrecked trucks.

Sounds like a cool project.

Sell me the T56...

Find a divorced NP205 if you really want that tranny................but it doesn't sound like you do. It sounds like you are just asking about the motor.

Good luck with the project!

jefferson if you want the tranny im selling it no less than $800 if you want msg me about it... ill give you guys a more heads up in a bit about what exactly i plan to do
