Okay everyone likes a picture or two. Since I have the day off I have started working on this again.
PS Pump-Water Pump-Crank
The Army show me some good tricks and one was how to get a pretty good measurement for a fan belt using an electrical extension cord that would be close to (mimic )the size of the belt being replaced.
My belt that needs to be replaced reads 55" when measured when removed.
I used two extension cables, one white that fit the pulleys well and one red that was a bit larger than the white but mimicked the fan belt being used well.
The measurement were expected to be different but give a good idea of what size belt is needed to get the zero ( "0" ) setting on the pump housing.
52 1/8" and 52 3/4" were the end results.
I would bet 52 1/2" would be fine but I can not find anything in this size or close.
Sorry meant to say the one on now is @ 54" not 55"

if I recall the last 5 digits of the Toyota belt part # is the length of the belt....if that helps

landpimp, I have the original PN and tried that and did not work. Thanks
I believe gates TR22525 was a number the Napa part cross referenced to one of their belts. The 52.5" is a promising number. Will call around.
Thanks guys.

Update-got hold of a friend in Australia that has access to auto part numbers in Europe. He looked up the stock Toyota number and got a aftermarket number of 15A1355, and when converted to inches comes up at 54.252. Then with that number and crossed with the Gates reference numbers it came up as a TR22534 at 53.7/8. So with all that said I am going to order the TR22534 from Rockauto due to the price is around $7 and see how it pans out at 53.7/8.

New up date- well the #TR22534 53 x7/8 was a waste (two short). Went back to Napa auto and just for the heck of it bought a #22545 (gates) 19/32 x 55 1/8, that turned out a waste also, about the same as the old one. It comes down to if the belt measurements are measured from the outside of the belt instead of the inside as the two I have measure form the outside to give the correct size, it would suggest that a belt that measures (outside) about 54" would be possibly the ticket. Its just I cant find a belt that has that size measurement.
What does one use in measurements (MM, CM) when decoding the original Toyota part number to get the size. Part number 90916-02093
Getting a bit frustrating.

from what I can see in my parts books, there are only 2 choices for belts, I only had my book for up though mid 8/80 handy but should be the same for 81+

90916-02089 1360mm(53.54) LHD or RHD
90916-02093 1370mm(53.94") this lists For "Temperd Fan" (whatever that is)

these are the lengths listed

there is also 99343-01570(my 82 has 11570) which shows no length(bummer), its for a New Zealand New South Wales spec. I think this is also the same belt used on US Spec 81+ FJ40(with OEM PS) and FJ60, but these rigs use the alt as an adjuster.

Is there a chance these is another tensioner? (I dont see how there could be)

On the us spec 82 FJ40(same as a 60) the PS pump is fixed(no adjustment) but like you said yours is more like the FJ62(80) pump that there(also) some adjustment in the pump, but in the 62 there is also another tensioner used.

A good parts guy like Beno or Dan I am sure can find you a OEM belt which is just a bit smaller, somehow the part # relates to length, my parts guy is out of town or I would ask.

personally, I would not worry about the pump being off, my old 80 series was like that for years(as I hate getting to the other tensioner) Our 62 has always been off a bit

my guess is.......its just the nature of the belt set up, without another adjuster(like the alt) the PS pump will just sit funny.

Funny I have been sitting at my PC now for about an hour looking for cross references for the 90916-02093 number without any real finds.
That number you gave Landpimp of 53.94 with temp fan ( we call it a clutch fan) is pretty much the size of the Gates one that I received. The 53" put the PS reservoir all the way opposite from were it sits with the 55" belt on. I am thinking that if I split the difference of the findings of both 53 and 55 I believe a 54.5 may do the trick. But as I am finding it not easy finding a 54.5 x 19/32 or so.
As for another tensioner I to kept looking to make sure all was correct but no it is all stock and without a second tensioner.
Oh I am not really to concerned with the angle as you say is kind of one of those things, is just the belt is getting on the fraying dry side of things so when replaced why not with one that puts the reservoir in prospective. My wife says it just the fun of the chase for me.
Thanks

I wish I could help you more. I bought a Toyota 02089 and it was way too short for my setup. When I look at your pictures though I think my pump sits just a bit higher. You have the stock setup, I put an FJ62 pump and bracket on my 1F engine, along with a fan clutch. I guess the bracket is just a bit different or the newer pump rotates on a different axis because the reservoir cap on mine is noticeably higher than the oil cap on the valve cover, yours seems to barely come above it.

Either way, I tried a NAPA TR22545 and it was still a tad short, so I got the next size up, a NAPA TR22553 I think, and that got my reservoir pretty level, if I have the belt tight enough. I haven't ran it yet, but it feels good. I'm perplexed that you can't find one to fit. It seems the 02093 has to be the belt for it.

MoCoNative thanks for the information. I kind of wonder myself that the stock part number calls for a 53 7/8" (outside diameter) but its just not going to work.
Well today (work tonight) I spent a few hours making three aluminum shims in the shape of the engine lift arm bracket with the three mount holes. I removed the PS reservoir and mount and bracket and installed the shims between the engine lift arm bracket and PS mount. This moved the mount out towards the side almost 3/8". Reinstalled parts using three longer 17mm bolts with some Lock-tight on the treads. I added two washers to the two top bolts to angle the mount downward by a hair. This would take up a bit of the fan belt slack by that 3/8" so when I moved the pump up to adjust the new 22545 (gates) 19/32 x 55 1/8 55 1/8" belt it would not travel so far as it was doing before. Lo and behold it worked. I am going to refine the washer part of the install with a small wedge, would look a bit better. The reservoir now sits just right and level, the belt is right on. If I had not gone outside the box I think I would of gone nuts looking for a replacement belt. Still, book calls for a 53" and I am using a 55", maybe I better leave it alone.
Thanks

Kruisnkid, thanks, and yes I have been working in MM for years but the belt system can be complex and if anything annoying. Take my part number 90916-02093 and then took the last four and say they are in MM, 2093mm and converted that to inch you would get about 82.24" of belt, and that would never work.
I have used Toyodiy.com web for a long time for referencing parts and part numbers, very helpful. I keep looking at the rigs PS setup to see if possible the PS pulley is the wrong one, Adjusting arm, mount, and so on and fine all to be OME. I guess you one just has to live with what you have and work it from there.
Thanks much

sorry didnt mean to come off like a know it all. however, i wouldnt assume that the length is located in the part number, at least not any more. obviously 2093mm is a little large for a belt in these old beasts. toyo may have certainly started down that road early on, but i have a a feeling that was abandoned.

You absolutely do not come close to sounding like that, and I do appreciate your input. Everyday is a learning day for me.

Thanks
