Uwharrie to open March 28th this year

According to USFS, the trails at Uwharrie will be open to public on 28 March 2014 this year instead of April. I wont be able to go in March but if anyone wants to set up a run one weekend feel free to get it going...

I would check again beforehand to ensure the date does not slip due to the weather we have had this year so far and potential for heavy storms that time of year.

i wonder if they have gotten as much rain as we have ? If so, it will be soggy there for months!

I'm sure it has... I have no idea where "Gulches" is, anyone have an idea if that trail is doable when saturated? I'm ready to get out there!

Uwahrrie got just as much rain I think as we have...plus they got hammered with snow and ice two times back to back...so I am guessing there may be a lot of tree damage and such to be cleaned up. The ONSC guys have a voluteer trail they support there at Uwharrie so visit their forum, introduce yourself...and if there are updates or delays they would know with a couple living right in that area and keep a good track of trail conditions and such.



as for Gulches....it is or was mostly red clay dirt....near Liberty SC if not mistaken. When I went it had rained a little...froze over night and started thawing next day. It was like a skating rink AFTER the ice melted.
